Apologies if this has been posted before, I checked grabbits and mobile phones but couldn't see it.
Found on RPoints
If like the wife and I you have an old Orange OVP Vigin account (no line rental but a monthly bill for calls made ) it is now possible to grab a free upgrade. This doesn't work over the phone but must be done online.
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handsets/upgrade/all/all
You have to register and have your phone and account number handy. You then get the option of a free upgrade to;
Nokia 6030
Nokia 3120
SonyEricsson k300i
Delivery is also free
The later selling at around £50+ postage on ebay.
From my conversation with the helpful CS lady I figure that it could be a misprice and therefore won't last for long. Have upgraded both our phones and hopefully both will arrive in the next few days. Fingers crossed.
Hope this helps someone.

The spv c550 is only £50 as well, I am seriously looking at this...0

I also have an Orange phone on OVP tariff that I seldom use but worried that should I order this Orange will change my tariff and set up some set monthly payment I see that they say its dependant on your monthly tariff, wouldn't like to be stuck with a 12 month contract at £X per month as I already have another contract phone with 5 months to run
"the prices shown are for you and are dependent on the services that you subscribe to0 -
Ordered it, got 7 days to send it back, and somewhere in the t & c it mentions the virgin tariff. Anyway if I get it in time will post any details I get. Btw I got the spv c550.0

Jeff, if you got OVP VIRGIN than you will be stuck on other 12 month contract but at line rental of £0 per month. So nothing to worry about. If they say 6 months down the line increase it to £10 a month you can cancel cause it is an increase over inflation.0

Read the T&Cs and it seems ok to me..
To read them you need to login on the orange web site and click this link.

gone for the c550
BTW I got a GPRS bundle (in addition to the OVP) which is very reasonable at £4 per 4MB (and goes cheaper for heavier users) an use the line for Interent access on the road... Great!!0 -
I went for the c550 as well and was even more delighted to get the music edition which comes with a 512 mini sd card. Apparently the standard Orange c550 only came with a 128 card. :j0

I ordered 2 of the K300i both showed up as Free with Free delivery.
My third and last OVP Virgin SIM on contract was faulty, got CS to send a free replacement they were going to charge me £17. The CS chap said my average spend per month on the phones was 11pence
I have 3 handsets on a talk60 contract so he said as my spend on those 3 was about £90 for the first 6 months and 60 for recently he could use this as a reason for the upgrade to the SIM
I checked with him that they would not merge the accounts as I need a bill for December to get my last £300 cashback from One stop phone shop. If you have any phones on these cash backs make sure you do not change the billing address or names or merge the accounts, as OSPS will NOT accept bills that are difference from the ORIGINAL account.
I know alot of people on this site use cashback schemes and OSPS payouts are good, but their terms are quite strict.
Thanks to the OP for this deal.
Please post any results (or lack of them) here I'll do the same. Was told the K300i were in stock and should arrive in 2-5 days.
Returning the items is paid for by Orange in their T&C.
Is it worht paying £50 for this 550 phone thing? If I've understood it comes with a 512Meg min SD (So can I use this for mp3 and connect it to the car stereo with a normal 3.5mm stereo jack like any other MP3 player).
Also how simple is it to unlock the 550 phone is a special cable or can a stock USB connection and some software (free hopefully!) all I need?Seth.0 -
I think there was a thread about this before, here or somewhere. There was a bit of scepticism or worry that there would be a retrospective charge or correction, so I'm surprised if it is apparently still available; you'd expect Orange to have changed the website.
In the past, there has been no upgrade available for OVP Virgin, especially not free. I'll have to take a look; my 2 old Motorola mr30 can't last for ever (7 years so far).
edit - not very observant am I  - the other thread has been bumped today :rotfl:0 -

I was spectical too but the downside is limited so worth a punt...
I agree no upgrade on the OVP Virgin I've had mine for years. I used the 0800 overide to onetel ... those were the days.
Have make do with cheaper calls via cashback now and new handsets
Anyway looks like they have an approval process, perhaps someone has to approved these requests?
This is the mail my details replaced with Xs
