I've tried unsuccessfully for over two weeks to move money either the Tesco or to Egg and am now getting really annoyed. I've tried many different times on most days and would just like an indication from Halifax if there is a problem of some sort.0

I also don't understand why on a Thursday afternoon the earliest date it offers is Monday. Does Halifax not do bill payments on a Friday?0

I have had that too, it is really strange!0

I can't remember the exact cut-off time .. suspect it's around 1800hrs. If you do it before then ... the payment should go early hours of Friday.
But if you do it after the cut-off ..... then it would be going early hours of Sat? And, since FP (yes, I know that's a bit of a joke) SO's do not go on other than Bank working days ... and Sat isn't one of them. I know this is a 'bill payment' ... so if you sent it 'immediate' (and FP was working) it would go on a Fri or a Sat. But ..... bill payments are at the choice of the Bank and Halifax currently appear to have chosen to link them with SOs. So they will not transmit on a Sat or Sun .. if external.
They changed their system in April in preparation for FP .... and caused a lot of confusion at the time. And they've ensured it hasn't lessened much!If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Hip hip hooray, I sent some faster payments today!
4 payments totalling £500.
Am I correct in believing that Tesco savings seem fairly reliable and work for larger amounts than £500. I have my Icesave ISA certificate now and will need to move my savings back to my Halifax account.0 -

Moving money out of Tesco using Faster Payments seems pretty reliable. Have moved just under 10K out of Tesco on 2 separate occasions and has credited receiving account within minutes.
There are a few quirks such as if you try to set up a withdrawal on a Saturday to leave on the following Monday it actually moves the money straight away but nothing that's likely to cause any real problems. It tells you on the screen when the money will leave and arrive which helps.
I've not tried moving more than 10K in a single day for example two 9K transfers but it may be possible. Don't think there is anything on the Tesco website that shows any internal limits on Faster Payments.
Obviously you need the card reader, pin and card before you can withdraw.MSE. Abandon hope all ye who enter here

Since the bank holiday weekend, each day I have tried to do transfers to family parents/siblings accounts 1>a Bank of Scotland, 2>HSBC and 3>Natwest accounts. In each case - they only allow bill payments of 3-5 days. A message appears stating Faster payments are not available. This is also the case for trying to transfer to Sainsburys and Egg banks. On calling Halifax 2 times ...each time I have spoken to a supervisor and they have apparently called the faster payments division and told me there is no problem...and to call the other banks. They have tried to imply the amount I was transferring was maybe too big and after stating it was a pound (had also tried larger amounts) Halifax tried doing the transfer while I was on the phone. When the supervisor tried...they couldn't carry out a faster payment either.
As far as I can tell this is total whitewash and after 8 years with them I've decided to transfer to HSBC. They say there is nothing wrong their end...it's the receiving banks..wierd considering 5 banks all don't want deposits!
I'm totally fed up with Halifax.0
