I think id better explain the difference is 'ADSL' for all BT line broadband packages
And 'DSL' for cable
So you want a DSL router for it to work with Virgin media
Personally id try the RESET button on the back of the modem you have first. With it plugged in and switched on keep the reset button pressed down (normally TINY that only needles or whatever could reach) for approx 30 seconds. switch off and back on and hopefully it will be in its FACTORY state

If that works then youll need to reconfigure it (switching on security etc):idea:0 -
Ok its a lincsys one...heres what you need to do
You set your WEP code. Go to your browser, and type in 192.168.1.1. type in password (if you have not changes it, it is ADMIN).
Under wireless, go to wireless security, and set up your security option. WEP will be there, and then type in your passkey (passphrase), and then save settings. You will need to use same passkey on all computers when you set them up for wireless connection.
Stole this from else where but try it. Not seen the internals of a lincsys so cant really guide you"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Its been established that the router is fine as it is working hard wired, the problem is that her DS decided to start messing with it. The principle for wireless conectivity is the same be it a Cable or BT router, as its the device you need to configure to talk to the router and thats the problem they are having."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. See my post further up on how to find your WEP code.
additional info
Access the setup page of the router. go to wireless and click on the subtab "wireless security". Check what is the defualt transmit key. If it is set to "1", The characters on key 1 will be your password or your network key."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one.
