I ran this today on my PC. All seemed to be well as it reported my computer was secure.
Immediately afterwards, I discovered that it had disabled Spyware Doctor ... and left it disabled after terminating
I then found that it had not only disabled Spyware Doctor, it had also changed vital settings in the program, as well as having changed some security settings in IE7.
The result was that nothing worked as normal and I couldn't even connect to the internet.   Oh, and the centre wheel on my mouse has just packed up ... possibly coincidence.
I carried out a system restore from a restore point made yesterday which seemed to clear the problems, but for peace of mind I've run a deep scan with Spyware Doctor and then Norton AV. Nothing reported thankfully, but it was a necessary waste of time.

Wow, I always use this site and it didnt shut down any of my protection and im running spybot and NOD32 at the moment. I have run it on loads of different configurations and its never been any trouble.
I have never honestly hear of anyone having any problems from that site. Now I feel guilty!!!!"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

i had a problem with my hotmail address a couple of weeks ago were emails had been sent from my address not by me to people i dont know. they were all the same, they were claiming to be a chinese electronic retail company trying to sell their products. they said they were called trade faithfully. this all happened during a brief period were i had no firewall turned on so it maybe down to that or just a coincidence. i have had no problems since though.0

No need to feel guilty. It may just be some bizarre combination of programs / setting on my PC that threw it into disarray.
All I know is that immediatly after running their checks, my PC was toast until I did a restore. I think I've got it back to 'normal', but I'm keeping a watchful eye on it, and I won't be revisiting that site any time soon.

Before the panic sets in, there's nothing wrong with that site and it is run by quite a famous security expert (Steve Gibson, well he's famous in the security field). I'd say grc.com is the MOST trustworthy security site you could visit because of their expertise and credentials. If something went wrong I'd say it was coincidental or something quite flawed in one's computer set up. The only thing that rang alarm bells for me in the previous posts were dreaded words "Norton AV"."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Update:
Microsoft have come good! They sent me a link this morning in order to reset my password. Managed to get into my hotmail account but it was all in chinese!
Found a website that shows you how to change the language and managed to change it back to english and change all my passwords.
I have also managed to get back into my ebay account and found 10 items listed. All cameras worth £500 each. I have changed all my security items in my account and I am awaiting a response from ebay.
Thanks again for all your help."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
