That's good, likely your machine is clean then.
Did you use any saved logons for those accounts, auto logons on that computer. Dou you save passwords on it
The windows live messenger software had the remember my password box ticked so this is a way they could have accessed my emails.
Other than that I never use saved logons on any website. I always have to retype the password every time I login!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

Its very much a possibility, however if I were to go to the police I would need proof that the person who repaired my laptop is the one who has hacked my accounts!
There should be a record on each website as to what the ip address was when each was accessed. I dont think theres any way youll be able to find that information out (Though theres no harm in asking). But the police should be able to do that and so at least find out where they originated from. Id certainly give them a call and find where you stand anyways.
Its also quite possible theyre all different IP addresses as theres plenty of 'scams' about where peoples personal details are sold! (Meaning if the computer repair shop did that it, would be a lot harder to track down):idea:0 -
For the record though, hotmail is THE most hacked email system that I know of! (Were the password details stored in hotmail?) Id recommend a change to googlemail or yahoo and completely wipe out hotmail (if possible):idea:0

I have been doing a bit of researching on the internet and it does seem that this has happened to other people before, where their hotmail account has been hacked and the security question has been replaced by chinese text. Some people have also reported that their ebay account has been hacked as well.
I have checked my username on goofbay to see if anything has been bought/listed in my name and luckily so far nothing dodgy has happened yet!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

Its quite obvious from what you say that your very careful about the way you use your computer. It all points towards the 'repair man' to me:idea:0 -

Yes it does look like it!
I am waiting for a response from ebay and microsoft and will ask them if they can provide me with any further info as to who hacked my account.
Now my laptop has got the all clear I will be keeping an eye on my bank accounts during the next month to see if anything dodgy is going on!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

They can defenatley get info about when you last logged on and changed P/W and the IP address where this happened.
I was getting harrassed a few years ago at work and was being signed up to some so not so nice websites using my work email address.
One quick email to the webmaster of the particular site came back with IP adress, date time, then used an online dns lookup site to get there dns.
This was as far as I could go without getting the police involved, as from that point on the ISPs wont disclose any info (due to DPA i suspect) without authority, but the DNS would take it right to there home address (as it was in my case)."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Just a quick update on this.
Microsoft have got back to me and have sent me a load of questions to prove I am the real owner of the account, things like my IP address, postcode, dob etc.
It says I should get a response in 24-48hrs. I hope this gets sorted asap!
Thanks for everyones replies!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

Do you have a decent firewall?
Its just that if you have 'COMODO' or suchlike youll be able to see what connections you have at any given time and be able to block any connection attempts you so desire, IF you have actually been hacked its quite possible you have a program on your computer thats simply not recognisable by all the anti spyware and anti virus programs you have!
Just a thought........:idea:0 -

I would have thought that the firewall on my router and windows firewall would be suffice?
I am not keen on having Mcafee or Norton installed as they both hog a lot of memory"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
