Merry Christmas guys - fingers crossed that we all have some good luck in 2009. I can't wait to look back on this situation as a dim and distant memory - 2008 has been my annus horribilis (relationship breakup x 2, issues with my mother, house not selling, depression and bleedin' Prozac!) so I now cannot wait for Christmas and New Year to be over (bah humbug, sorry) and hope that 2009 is an improvement!
Wishing you all a peaceful and happy festive season, with many viewings/offers/completions round the corner!

Hi Merry Christmas everyone.
Here's to good luck in 2009 hopefully things will pick up. A five bed in my street has sold & people moved in over the weekend & my friend says a couple of her freinds are looking in the New Year & don't want to wait any longer. I saw in the paper over the weekend that some banks are starting to offer 95% mortgages again so fingers crossed.
Hope we all have a lovely Christmas & get buyers in the New Year.
FeefeeLife's what you make it.:j0 -
Happy 2009, fellow sellers.
I'm pleased (and surprised) to report that I had a viewing this week and another one this afternoon! Very unexpected for the time of year. The one on Tuesday was really positive. I'm not getting my hopes up, but the couple stayed for more than half an hour and asked me loads of questions. Seemed to really like the house, too. So it was nice to get some positive feedback, if nothing else. They want to move quickly and have nothing to sell, so were pleased to hear that I'd be going to rented.
Anyone else have any news?

Property has been up for approx three months, around twelve viewings and three offers.
Two of the offers failed when the potential buyers couldn't get a mortgage, hopefully completing on the 9th Jan (fingers crossed).0 -

Yes, I just thought I'd give this thread a bump with a 'Merry Christmas to all our readers' line.
I'm afraid our sale is going right up to the wire; everyone has signed and exchange is imminent, but I'm not sure if all the solicitors will be in their offices in the coming week. Ours is there till Tuesday.
We have done a good deal on renting a large house nearby; not modern, but it will hold all our belongings, so we can give up Pickfords for New Year! It was in competition with our house at one stage, but the children of the elderly lady who lived there wouldn't reduce as much as we did . Now they've taken it off the market. We all make our choices.....
As I said before, Merry Christmas and a proceedable New Year to you all, whatever your interest in this thread!
:santa2: :xmastree: :snow_laug
Any progress with your sale?
Need to decide if we leave the house on the market or take it off until I get myself a new job. If it stays on then the price is coming down by £15k, which was all in my original calculations.0 -

Thanks for your interest..... I've been staying very quiet, as the exchange didn't happen just before Christmas, though it appears there's just a technical hitch at the FTB end, and the money is there. That's what I've been told....
It wasn't great having this uncertainty hanging over us all Christmas & New Year, but compared with what others have suffered, it's tolerable. If nothing happens by next Tuesday, I'll be worried.
I understand how hard it is for you too, not knowing where your next job will be, but all the time wanting to get on with the sale. The outlook for 2009 is much as I expected, so if our sale falls through, I'm certain another reduction would be in order for us too.0 -
Happy new year to all the sellers, keep the faith guys, there are buyers out there, (we just had our offer accepted today :j ) Yours might come along any day.0

The couple who were coming to view my house before Christmas haven't been back in touch - they cancelled because of the bad weather (snow). Haven't had any other interest, only been up for sale for about a month.
Am definitely willing to reduce the price. What do you think ?now or at the end of January - and will it really make a difference anywayDFW Nerd No 953 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Estate agent phoned yesterday morning around 11 a.m. and I was expecting the usual PR chat about the market picking up in Spring etc.
I nearly fell off my chair when they said they had someone who wanted to view!!!
We took DD(19) back to uni today and have a family funeral on Monday so arranged a viewing for three o clock tomorrow which gives us time to spruce the place up in the morning.
Seems the couple who want to veiw are in rented accomodation so fingers crossed.
DH not happy as I told him I was not cooking a huge Sunday lunch for 1p.m. and then racing around to clear dishs and pots etc. but would start cooking after the viewing had taken place.
Have not identified a place we would love to buy since we lost the last house we were keen on , but have our eye on a couple of houses that might suit us.
