Yup, that's right: almost a year for my first one too, plus the 9 months doing it up first. I seem to have been on this for ever!
Hope that's some consolation, Amanda, and others. A reduction of 22% is brave and realistic. If only the properties I'm keen on would do similarly, I could contemplate buying, rather than hanging about. I'm looking at 3 rentals on Monday.0 -
Thanks Davesnave and Pawpurs for your replies.
I just looked on homemover and you're right Davesnave, they still have it on for £109,950, so no wonder we've had no interest.
Also just noticed that they have the higher price in the local property paper, obviously want more commission.
I've had enough of their rubbish attitude now, I really want out of that contract as they really have not fulfilled their part of the deal. I want to tell them where to stick the £200 but would be worried of repercussions.
I'll definitely be telling them why we are leaving them though.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing (or not doing !) this on purpose to get a bit of dosh where they can.0 -
ourrac not sure how it works but it might be worth checking with citizen advice if they havent fullfilled the terms of contract to your satisfaction you may be able to get out of it. i would check before i paid them any money they sound terrible. my agents have been great we have had 1 failed sale and no viewings for months which is frustrating but i know the EA are marketing us properly ( im keeping a close eye on it ) they ring at the end of each month with an update and nothings too much trouble they will check things for me if i ask and they have been out twice now to take extra photos which were updated on rightmove and there website 2hrs after being taken. by the way iv been on market for 14mnths so have decorated and had drive revamped hence the new photos lol. also when we did price drop they changed it while i was on phone to them. this is stressfull at the best of times without having to deal with a bad agent good luck.:coffee:i find a cup of tea can solve most problems:coffee:

Thanks Moneysavingfamilycomp
I'm glad you have decent EA's and hope you find a buyer soon.
Strangely, since I posted on here, suddenly the EA have corrected everything I mentioned !
Seems a bit suspicious, I wonder if one of them has been reading ?
If only they would pull their fingers out and send some genuine viewers.
Merry Christmas to everyone ,hope we all get some good luck soon.0 -
we sold in 3 and a half months but were realistic with price. We had 4 viewings and took 10k less than asking price, when we had the offer on the table we then looked at houses, because we were then in a really strong position, we then found a house that dropped 13k and it is all going through, we just decided to stop worrying about how much we were going to get for our place and see if we could make the offer work for us.
Also heard of people being offered 15k less than asking price during the summer and refusing, now they are still on the market and having to drop their price to that so expecting offers even lower now and they wish they took the offer0 -
Plus sadly over Xmas and into 2009 it seems unemployment is rising even more - I now know 2 people who have been made redundant and a third who has been made redundant but re-offered his job if he works on a self-employed basis, so they can end the contract at anytime if they struggle financially presumably.
Therefore there may be less buyers and more reposessions due to unemployment - let's all hope this starts to die down asap and the recent interest cuts start to bring things back up for everyone.MFW #185

We've got a viewing tomorrow...didn't expect any this close to Christmas. It a second viewing from a cash buyer..an offer would really make my Christmas but after 11 months on the market I'm not holding my breath!
Good luck to the rest of you.

Yes, I just thought I'd give this thread a bump with a 'Merry Christmas to all our readers' line.
I'm afraid our sale is going right up to the wire; everyone has signed and exchange is imminent, but I'm not sure if all the solicitors will be in their offices in the coming week. Ours is there till Tuesday.
We have done a good deal on renting a large house nearby; not modern, but it will hold all our belongings, so we can give up Pickfords for New Year! It was in competition with our house at one stage, but the children of the elderly lady who lived there wouldn't reduce as much as we did . Now they've taken it off the market. We all make our choices.....
As I said before, Merry Christmas and a proceedable New Year to you all, whatever your interest in this thread!
