Thanks moneysavingfamily.
I am expecting a lowish offer as they said the house had a lot to be done (decoration)- but we have already done the expensive stuff like double glazed doors and windows, rewiring, new boiler and replacing damaged victorian floor tiles etc."This site is addictive!"

Happy new year to all. Our sale is still going well, however the vendor of the house we were buying decided to pull out today:mad: . We'd have been in a worse situation if our buyer pulled out, but we are now in the late stages of the sale/purchase so have paid for surveys and searches:mad: . So now going to have to find another house and it's not like we're moving locally.0

just had call from EA my viewing for sat has been cancelled apparently her BF has been made redundant so they now cant buy. its a sign of the times but its got me a bit worried. if we do get an offer theres a very strong possibility that somewhere along the chain a sale will fall through due to redundancy its a scary thought.:coffee:i find a cup of tea can solve most problems:coffee:

Hi elona - sorry for changing the subject of the thread, but can you let me know where you got your replacement Victorian floor tiles from? We have a tiled hallway in need of TLC! Hope you get an offer soon x0 -
I know it was a company in London and they advertised in Period Homes magazine a while ago but can't remember the name.
DH has "tidied" evrything away so I can't find anything.
No word from the viewers so trying to forget about it and just let things take their course."This site is addictive!"

Sold my flat in London - finally!!! - was on the market for a year! lost one buyer last minute due to redundancy! was on market for £425K! - lowered it to £415K, sold for £340K 2 months ago. A bit !!!!ed off for low price, but had to sell.
I think this is back to the 2005 price similar flat in this street went for back then. Almost exact same flat went for £460 in december 2007! I waited too long!!!
buyer must be very pleased! But I'm happy it went out of my hands before prices drop even further.0 -
Afternoon, all.
An update from me. The buyers between xmas and new year, really liked the house, but are offering on a repo flat - so far nothing accepted. I'm not sure how much cheaper the flat is, but find it odd that they would prefer that to a house, but hey.
Agent called again this morning and I have another viewing this afternoon. So that's three in 10 days...please let this be a sign of things to come!
Good luck everyone. Pawpurrs, are you back from Mexico?

ETA: congrats clivoclivo - great news0 -
Hi Everyone, and a slightly belated Happy New Year! Here's hoping you all get lucky and find buyers in 2009!
Heard from conveyancing solicitor yesterday that contracts have been exchanged, deposit paid, completion 30th January.
Just to remind you, it's my parents' flat, they both died in 2007.
I think it went on the market early August 2008. We had one buyer who pulled out after survey (said it needed too much doing). We might have completed sooner with second prospective buyers, but leak in main bedroom worried buyers. To be honest, I'd have been worried too when we saw it! But chap upstairs had his sliding door onto balcony taken out, found seals under it had gone, and various other faults, now fixed, and plasterwork drying out well. We did put in a de-humidifier for a few weeks, which helped.
The flat is in a wonderful position, overlooking marine lake and estuary - has really fantastic sunsets! I think that the buyers fell for the location, and are prepared to do the work themselves to live there. But even so, I thought they might pull out at the last minute - really prefer not to count my chickens!
In a way I'll be sad to see the flat go, but I never lived there (parents moved from family home in 1997) so I don't really have any emotional ties to the place. But I'll sure miss the sunsets that we watched while clearing the place.
Wishing all of you the best of luck with selling. May be back if we decide to try and sell our own house as husband would like a garden (we only have a back yard as are in a terraced house).
Urk, the cleaning and tidying required just doesn't bear thinking of at the mo - house is currently stuffed with all parents' stuff as well as ours! Hoping to gradually get it cleared over the next few months - we had to get it out of the flat ready for the sale to go through, but some stuff I'm still not quite ready to let go of - it's amazing how emotionally charged some stuff can get! :rolleyes:0
