  • Hi

Could i join in your thread?

We put our property on the market last year but sadly our EA went bust, then we had our boiler explode slighty so we have had to do some running repairs. But we are now ready to put it back on the market! The valuations last time were a good 10/15K higher than what i paid. I know i won't get that this time and i don't want it. But i would like to get what i paid for it. When we have instructed someone i would like to join in the excitment this thread contains!!

    Hi all!

Update from me: Nothing happened over the Christmas period (as expected) but yesterday I had a call from the EA to request a THIRD viewing for a couple who originally cam back in the middle of October. They initially fed back that there wasn't enough worktop space. (There's loads!!) So I'm a bit unsure why they want to come back.

Part of me thinks that they are 'just ruling us out' and part of me is getting hopeful that they have changed their minds.

The house we want to buy is currently on a AST that ends at the end of March, so timing could work. Heck, what am I saying?! It is probably not going to happen. :-(
I love giving home made gifts, which one of my children would you like? :D :A :D

Of course you can join, though the sort of 'excitement' this thread contains isn't what I'd wish on anybody!

Your story sounds a bit like ours. We'd probably have missed the credit crunch altogether if our TV signal had been OK, but it was too embarrassing to sell with the house, so I got the aerial man round. He told us there'd be no aerial without a stable chimney to put it on.....which took months to sort out. Meanwhile, all hell broke loose. That was a darned expensive aerial!

When did you buy your property? Here we're back at June 2005 prices, but things vary quite a lot between regions. The dilemma is knowing how far above an acceptable price to make the asking price, as no matter how reasonable you are, people will want to offer below whatever you say.

Anyway, let us know when you are back on the market again.

Aurora, that is brilliant news. Fingers & toes crossed!

rsootarsing, has the house your're keen on been reduced over the 6 months and are the vendors being realistic? Last July was aeons ago in terms of house sale history.

Jorgan, I hope it all works out for you. I've learned nothing's simple in this property market, but you at least know what you're doing!

Jenny, a third viewing is serious stuff, whichever way it goes. Of course we here hope it goes the right way. The more genuine good news we can generate on this thread, the better interested sellers who read but don't post may feel about their own sales.
  • I bought my flat in 2006 for 89k and i'd be quite happy if i got it back!! I'll let you know when i'm back on the market!!
  • Hi
Only been on the market since October, but have found a house to retire to - their EA have gone bust, no offers on ours (xcept from a company offering cash - dodgy, we think) - however , on the plus side we still have viewings pending. I think we may have to forget about our house of choice and just wait ...(not very good at that !) :))

Welcome to the thread, nellie. Don't go near any cash offering companies, whatever you do, as there's no such thing as a free lunch in this business, but I think you know that!
  • hi all,

hope you all had a lovely kissmas and new year!

update: we have decided to try and different route.

We are investigating renting out our current property, as still no sale after 7 months. Lots of interest, but commuting from Leiestershire to kent every week with a now 3 month old baba is taking its toll. We can raise a good 25% deposit for a 2nd mortgage with savings and equity in our current property. The rent will cover the current mortgage and we can then sit out the current downturn. Also we should be able to get a good mortgage rate on the new property. So, had the mortgage advisor round on Friday and are having the property valued for the rental market tomorrow.

I would really appreciate all your opinions on this, good or bad, in case I haven't thought this through properly.

Still on the market and will be until we know for sure this is a real option.

Good luck to all.... as always...
