Good news dave.
I have a viewer tomorrow. I was in two minds because I've just lost my father but the show must go on and all that.
Fingers crossed.
A new start would be good.de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -

Sorry to hear that Nikki. People are nervous for all sorts of reasons now, which makes the whole sale/purchase process very shaky.
Is there any possibility you could rent rather than buy in a hurry? It would help you to get to know the area.
The seller was in this case was funny from the start, he very reluctantly accepted our offer and that took a week. I don't believe his reasons for pulling out as they are things he would have known before this point. The STC has gone from the property, but it's still on RM and the EA's website. I think he wants more money for it, I doubt very much he'll even get what we offered now. We're back viewing tomorrow, good job our buyers are in no real hurry and I suppose we're in an even better position as we're ready to exchange.
No, renting isn't an option for us wish it was at times. We have 3 children and 4 cats, our oldest has AS so we need a place that's ours.0 -
Made an offer on a house I viewed about 6 months ago yesterday, offered £120k and had it turned down which is a shame.Making money online in 2009 to date earnt:

Sorry to hear about your father. Do try to look after yourself - it can be easy to overdo things - let's face it, there's a lot to do following a bereavement.
Can understand your wish for a new start.
Good luck with your viewer.0 -

Well what a shock I had today. Got a call from the Estate Agent saying 2 guys wanted to come round at 5pm today, they are looking for a buy to let. I spent 2 hours making the flat look 'viewer friendly'. I was going to go out but it was too cold. I don't know how interested they were, there are loads of flats cheaper than mine, so was surprised they came round to look at it! But at least I have a tidy flat I suppose...:D
Estate Agent said that they have over 50 viewings for properties arranged for tomorrow, so obviously things are looking up.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Aurora, sorry to hear about your Dad. As you say though, for you, life must go on, which means seeing all the potential buyers. Lurking in agents' offices, as I've been doing this week, I know there are folk out there making fresh enquiries.
Welcome back pawpurrs. Must be a bit of a shock, coming back from Mexico to the first real winter since I don't know when! The dithering buyers and long time lurkers can pay off; our buyers wanted our place in early July, but had to wait till October to get an offer on theirs. I've probably said that already, but this thread is so long, I'll never know! 1000+ postings. Amazing!
Nikki, people who can't make up their minds are such a pain. It sounds as if your vendor wants his head examining. You're right, he almost certainly won't top your offer, but unfortunately, by the time he realises that, it'll be too late for you. Be determined to beat his place and, with the spring market being important to everyone, you probably will.
We started moving in today. Our landlord is new to renting and doesn't live locally, but he's still tried to prepare the house himself. We took it for the location and the amount of space, not the decor, so we didn't mind it being a bit faded at the edges, but it would have been nice to start with it really clean. Instead, we've been dusting, washing, hoovering etc.
The letting agency, a very traditional firm used to dealing with some quite posh props, have been absolutely scathing in the inventory, describing many things as 'marked,' 'broken,' chipped,' and even 'grubby!' It really isn't anything we can't fix in a day or two, but we've been in hysterics reading the list and checking things. TBH I would rather have it this way than rent a house full of new stuff, which I'd worry about. With a daughter doing Fine Art and one room turning rapidly into a studio, I'd have reason to worry!0 -
Well my viewer loved it apparently.

Fingers crossed for a second visit. Sorry to hear the news of your fathers passing.
Davesnave, good to hear you have finally exchanged. Welcome back pawpurrs, cold isn't it?
Had another agent around the other day, her valuation ties in with my thoughts as well, so we will be instructing them on Monday. The house we prefer has been part exed with a builder, but the people won't move until May. The builder has dropped the price by £20k which means (in theory) we could drop ours by an additional £20k to try & get it. If only life was so simple.0
