We we're going to get the Christmas tree up on Friday night but had a call from the agent for a viewing for today at 12:30. So didn't put the tree up.

I'm looking to buy (sort off - this market is quite hard for buyers too. Impossible to know what to do for the best  ) Anyway seeing a Christmas tree up in a place makes it look so much more homely. I'd go for a nice, lived in place with a Xmas tree way before the kind of semi-finished BTL places that someone obviously ran out of money with and are empty and sad seeming.
  • Thats good news! How many viewings?

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Also good time of year to make sure potential neighbours-to-be don't have their house lit up like Blackpool with mega watt Christmas lights:eek:

    Thanks all,

Don't worry Fergie my house is lived in. The reason for not putting the tree up earlier was that the pine needles would drop everywhere. Too tight to buy an expensive non needle-dropping tree - my dad's a timber extraction operative (lumberjack) you'd think he could get me a tree for free!

Apparently a lot of the houses that used to be lit up like Blackpool illuminations have cut back because of the rising electricity costs.

Palm Centro - not sure if you were asking me how many viewings. I really can't remember. Once they've been I just forget about them.

One of the people that viewed has just sold their house - so I'm hopeful.

The next buying time will be late march i reckon...jan/feb are dead months as far as house selling is concerned...jobless will come jan/feb as too many firms do not want to be seen laying off at xmas...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

And wow 700 mature plants, how comes you have so many?? Is that your hobby? Glad you have somewhere to store them tho for when you move or im sure that would be a bit of a nightmare too eh!

    Justp x

The plants are the remainder of our nursery business and we've retained some land, where they're stored, that we can sell later on. However, if that hadn't been possible, they'd have been culled-down to ones that we couldn't replace.

A number of years ago, when we first thought of moving the business, we entered into negotiations over a property which was ideal. Then, we found out that the vendors were selling because they were splitting-up. I'm not sure if our interest caused panic, but with us and another couple both keen to buy, they suddenly took the place off the market and announced: 'We're staying, and we're going to counselling!'

It must've worked, as their place never returned to the market....and we didn't move!

Hope you hear good news tomorrow.

  • ok here goes.
I brought my house 2.5 years ago for £146K was on at £150K

I am going to view a house 2day which is on at £135 reduced from £200! its in the country and has great potential 2 extend etc so can be a house for having children etc!:)

Thing is I am worried that if i get too excited i wont be able to sell my house.
I could rent it out but is this dangerous? also my parents might offer 2 buy the new house and then we can wait to sell this one and transfer the mortgage.

Thing is are people really going to want to move this close to christmas?

  • 2 more viewings booked in for today and they are first time buyers. At least the house is reasonably tidy from the weekend so it shouldn't take too long to sort out.

Here's hoping that they like the place and they have actually got a deposit / mortgage in place. Not like the last FTB I had viewing - clueless but then so was I when I was a FTB.

At least you are getting viewings Marc, thats good.
Feedback from my viewing, Loved the house said it was perfect, not too sure on the area, so coming down at the weekend to have a drive about the area. Not holding out much hope.
    Pawpurrs x ;)
