Congratulations Suz, hope it goes through smoothly for you, are you buying on?
I've got no definite plans yet but it's either into rented or move in with family. With my credit rating being as it is, another mortgage is a definite no-no!
Good luck with your latest viewing!DFW Nerd No 953 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
If you read the 'expert' threads on this and other sites you'll not find much close agreement, but then you know what they say:
Economists are people who are too smart for their own good and not smart enough for anyone else's.
Whether it's dead cats or bull traps (there's another one to Google!) in the end we all make our own judgements. At least if we are on this site, that's a sure sign we are thinking and trying to become informed, rather than simply being compliant victims of circumstance.
From my, admittedly limited, interpretation it seems opinion based on all the current financial uncertainty is suggestive that things can only get worse. On the one hand that is borne out by the slow traffic to view my property (in different times these houses sell very quickly) and much less coming on to the market. On the other I am reluctant to drop any further as it compares favourably with other stuff around. From my reading house prices were going to drop inexorably but stuff I'm potentially looking at after the initial 20K, which seemed to come of everything, hasn't dropped further.
I have googled it sounds a bit similar to the cat scenario but feel free to educate me on the subtle difference. I like the sound of a Bear Market best can't we have one of those instead it conjurs up a much funnier image:rotfl: .
What is it with these financial types and animals.0 -
I just want to thank every one for their input, I have been reading through and it sounds like we all have similar difficulties and concerns. Will we manage to sell, then do we we rent or buy, do we drop the price or not.....
I would also like to say what a nice civilized supportive thread this is...some I'm not brave enough to post on:eek:0 -

And thank you, too! Yes, I think everyone here tries to keep this thread 'civilised,' but even on that alternative forum (the Dark Side?) most posters, though vociferous, and occasionally downright rude, have hearts of gold. I've made one or two good 'friends' over there.0 -
Where can I find info on what has sold in my area? Just want to see if anything is actually selling as I only see for sale boards but may be missing something!
Try http://www.ourproperty.co.uk/ that's the one I usually use. HTH0 -

hi tibbie everyone on here is usually very suportive and friendly but be warned sometimes the truth hurts lol. if you ask a question and really you know the answer but dont want to believe it someone on here is bound to spell it out for you but they all have good intensions (and their usually right). well had valuer out today he has taken new pictures and is going to get hold of stats from rightmove for me. he confirmed what we have all been saying on here the problem is people are only looking at price. they have sold 24 properties this month in their office 23 have been 'vacant' either repossession probate or people moving abroad selling cheap with no chain. thats what we are all competing with. he also said the feedback they are getting from FTBs is that they want to buy but even if they can get a mortgage they dont want to comit as they are scared of losing there jobs so are looking to rent for now. does'nt look good does it. at least i appreciate their honesty he could of lied and said market was on the up and houses were starting to sell again without telling me which kind of houses. im starting to think what will be will be.:coffee:i find a cup of tea can solve most problems:coffee:
 but alcohol solves them all

Sounds like you have received some useful advice from the EA today. May ask my EA the same questions regarding vacant properties etc. On the strength of what he's told you are reducing your price further or just refreshing your pictures? I agree entirely with what you said earlier I too would sell my house for buttons if it was guaranteed that you could move up for a simillar reduction. Good Luck!!0
