Pawpurrs: It's like a cat playing with a mouse....or is it? Do you think they may be having problems with the finances? People are peculiar about money sometimes and stall rather than tell the truth.

Devilot: Comisserations! Read your story on the other thread & it seems almost unbelievable that your agents can be so useless in the current sales climate. What happened to the other folk you showed around? Are they still on the scene at all?

Jenny: New couple sound good, but may take some time just to become proceedable. Won't tell you how long our buyers took, but they did prove that committed people will hold on to a particular dream, even for....er, a long time! Best of luck with them, anyway

Thanks for the commiserations everyone, I'm off to have a shower and drown my sorrows shortly.

There is still a chance the other buyer might want the house, she's certainly not found anywhere yet. Her relative (my work colleague) doesn't even know what her views were on the house, as the next thing she heard from us was that our sale was going through, so didn't really discuss it with her. One the one hand, it could end up working out in our favour (we were letting the house go for Q1 2004 prices as we were assured they could move quickly - HA!) as in we could get more for the house AND get a cash buyer - on the other hand, our house just might not be what the lady was looking for after all.:o

The reason they gave for pulling out was that the daughter (who they were buying the house for) was having health problems or something - the EA in his phone call was in such a rush to get the bad news out, and of course, after I heard 'buyer pulled out' I sort of switched off as well! I personally think they were either refused a mortgage or had trouble raising the 25% deposit they would have needed - they told us they had moved 5 times in 4 years so they would surely be in negative equity. The daughter herself had an IVA which is the reason why she couldn't get her own mortgage.

On the positive side - we can take our time considering future offers I suppose - nothing to lose except the valuation fee we've already forked out for - if the house we wanted is still there when we are ready to proceed, fantastic - if not....there are other houses :) (I'm trying to convince myself, you might have noticed!! :D)
  • just wish we could get a viewing ..... Moneysavingfamilycomp

Another weekend is nearly upon us, any one got any viewings lined up?
MArc any feedback from your last three? Heres to some offers this week.
Spring is nearly sprung, so lets hope that brings some positive news.

Only had feedback from one of the viewings. They liked the house but want to be nearer the coast - just need the sea level to rise a bit.

We've got someone coming for a 2nd viewing on Sat. So here's hoping.

devilot - sorry to hear about your sale falling through, try to stay positive.

Good luck to everyone and hope you all get some viewings

You're right, it is rude. I am looking and have been late for a couple of appointments but I always call the agent to let them know so they can call the vendor. These poor !!!!!!s are probably sat there in a pristine house waiting to cook their tea whilst I'm stuck talking to another vendor.
  • Well I'm back (have been reading about you all though) - We finally had another viewer today.

She says that she's coming for a second viewing next week.

    Fingers crossed.

So true, I was trying to keep my 3 year old from getting things out etc, it's just not fair on them either. At least I have a pristine house though! ;)

I've had a few viewings since my last post (I know I don't post very often but I do read everyone's messages) Have another booked for Friday. One of my viewings made a very low cash offer which I declined, but then I start thinking - should I have accepted it.... I know I've made the right decision really though.

    Good luck everyone!
