    Hello Everyone!
Good luck with the move Dave, hope it goes well, and that you will be happy in your rented home.
Well done Smallfry, that is good news, hope it all goes through smoothly for you.
Jenny sorry to hear about your dither, I have one of those, and despite looking for mths and comparing our house to others on the market and not liking those as much he still isnt even offering! Says he is in no rush, wierd! When I want a house, I want a house!
    Nay mind.
No viewings for me in the last week. Been fighting the corner for DH who was made redundant without pay that was owed him, and have sent of f a moneyclaim, employers seem to be backing down now, but are refusing to pay the court cost, so still fighting, bar stewards!
Hope all is well with all, and heres to us all moving on in 2009!

Me's got a viewer tommorrow. They would pick the most awkward day of the week wouldn't they! I couldn't say no though could I :p.

Good luck to everyone. I long to be brave enough to post replies to each person in turn (like some of you do) I will get there one day. Just wanted to say that I do read all the posts and am sad or happy with you's.

No, I'm still standing too - just! Viewer in Nov put in an offer of 121K (house is offers over 119) which we accepted as thought wouldn't get any more than that anyway - and this was when house had only been on market for 3 weeks, waited all through Dec being assured he was desperate for the house & just waiting for mortgage - STILL haven't been told officially he's a waste of space but clearly he is...

Kept having viewings all through Dec and Jan, had a man this week who said he loved the house& would offer 110. We can't really afford to let it go at that - but can't afford not to move as we have serious problems with our neighbours. Anyway, the man's away for a week but then plans to come back and offer, so we've got this horrible dilemma now - lose money or lose my mental health.

Good luck for the weekend everyone - I'm just praying for a knight in shining armour!

Our house went on the market in August and we have had loads of viewings, in fact I had 2 on Friday and 1 on Sunday. Cleaning the house all the time is driving me mad. Any tips that don't cost much money?

On the market here too - sick of tidying up and also constantly noticing every minor thing wrong with the place! Stick with it though, it is worth the effort! We're viewing as well as selling and I've been gobsmacked at the state some of the houses 'for sale' have been in - clutter and mess piled everywhere, not cleaned, piles of dishes in the sink... just keeping the place together counts for a lot.

It's not that I can't see past mess - we've seen some places that we know under the rubbish are quite nice, but it didn't give us the impression they were serious about selling, or that they had maintained the place!

Tips wise... I put some lavender drops in the hoover bag so it pumps it out as it is in use (cheaper than constantly buying shake n vac and smells less obvious). What I can't afford to put in storage I have packed into archive boxes (£20 for 10 in staples). Piles of boxes neatly in a corner looks better than bits and peices everywhere.

I hate being a seller though, I feel judged whenever someone comes round!!
For everything else, there's MSE :T
  • The only way I managed it was sticking to a schedule of cleaning - I am a SAHM though, so I can clean anytime of day.

In between viewings, Id just make sure everything was picked up and put away at the end of the night, kitchen was reasonably clean every day (as in dishes washed, surfaces clean), laundry basket was never overflowing, Id hoover every other day.

As long as you always leave a room slightly tidier than when you entered it (so even just taking a glass to get washed), it works out. Made the bed every morning, all washing in the laundry basket... simple stuff.

Its when Id leave it for ages, then get told there was a viewing the next day Id get really stressed out. When youve done that often enough, its not a huge deal to spend 30 mins a day doing a quick clean and tidy

I'm still standing, too (sorry Elton :))

My (clean) laundry basket gets stuffed in the bottom of the wardrobe!

We've been on the market for three days and OH is already sick of me insisting the place is show-home clean and tidy before we leave for work in the morning (EA has keys so in theory could do viewings while we're out). :D

But sod's law the one day we don't do it will be the day someone views.
  • Hi can i join you all :)

My house has been on the market since May 08, 3 bed semi @ £164.950 virtually no viewings and we had to argue with the EA to reduce the price as they thought it was on at a good price. Dropped to £157.950 a few viewings but nothing to sing about so again another price drop to £144.950 in Oct 4 weeks later another to £139.950 At this price we were now having 1-2 viewings per week but no offers:confused: then just after xmas we dropped it another 5k to £134.950. The week of that drop we had 3 viewings booked but ALL canceled  We have been told that our rightmove stats have increased alot since the price drop but we don't seen to be getting anywhere.

We brought our house in Dec 2003 for 117k and we are hoping to sell for £130 K to give us some deposit.

Here is my house on rightmove..

were on with 4 agents now but only 2 of them seem to be doing anything

Good luck to all that are selling :)
