Hopefully 3rd time lucky for us. We found somewhere else to buy after our vendor pulled out last week and got it for 20k less than we were buying his house for. So we've got something much better and cheaper and are now glad he pulled out. The catchment secondary school also has an ASD unit which is what DS1 needs, so lets hope we get to exchange in 4 weeks with no disasters.

So glad you found something better Nikki, and that you had a financial reward too. Well done.

Positive vibes from me too, Jenny. Maggie's not the only one here who was a 60s flower-child!

Definitely a feeling of spring in the air today. Ridiculous really, as it's only half past January, but it's surprising how light levels affect people's sentiments. My greenhouse loses the sun completely in late November for the duration of mid-winter, but there it was this lunchtime, for the first time in 2009. Green shoots? Hardly, but the bulbs are pushing through, reminding folk that the nesting season won't be long....and it's not just the birds & bees that I'm talking about!

Dear Pawpurrs, so sorry to hear of your OH's redundancy. Hope that you have some better luck soon.

    Best wishes

Sorry Pawpurrs, I seem to have missed your previous post. I'm sorry to hear of your OH's redundancy. I hope he finds work soon.

  • Awful news today - someone has placed an offer on our new home of choice..hopefully the weekend will bring some new viewings to ours! (Fingers crossed) desperately trying to think of alternatives but OH flatly refuses to take out another mortgage (now how cruel is that lol), so we can't rent our home out. Two children leaving in next few months and youngest child in 12 months...bereft! Large four bedroom townhouse and no children to occupy it!...
Think of me this weekend - at least it will be tidy :))

Well, the couple came back for their 3rd viewing, they took lots of measurements. (To make sure their furniture would fit). But they still think that the kitchen is not big enough. They have talked about extendin the kitchen! There's onlt the two of them for goodness sake! They even measured the kitchen table to see if mine was bigger or smaller than theirs! (Mine is smaller when theirs is not extended).

So overall it's hard to gauge them.

...another viewing this afternoon. This is the fifth since Christmas. More than I had in about three months of last year, I think.

I've done the necessary, and am off to make myself scarce. It's such a double-edged sword. I don't really want to leave this house, but my ex and I split up last year, he doesn't want to buy me out and I can't afford to stay here on my own. So I know the sensible thing is to get shot as soon as possible but just try and enjoy the time I have left.

    Ho hum.

    Happy weekend, all :D

Agent came round on Saturday to take pics and do the contract. They emailed me the draft details this morning. I promptly sent back a list of changes and typo corrections. They're going to love me. :D

Feels odd - my flat has been a wonderful first home and I've got very attached to it the last few years. Feels very weird seeing it on a details sheet. I am excited about moving - OH and I are heading for a family house - but I don't want someone else in MY flat lol.

Anyone else feel like this the first time they sold?
  • Sarah...

i felt totally that way. i moved last month and i am so happy in my new home, but i was so distressed at leaving my first home. bawled my eyes out...i thought i was weird but the removal men told me i was actually holding it together well compared to some they'd seen

also i didnt like the person i sold to - but really no choice at these times i sisnt have buyers queing up! - so i hate the thought of my little home not being happy! lol, you are definitely not alone!!!

I've just had a call from the EA to say that the people who came round for a 3rd viewing on friday will not be putting an offer in. Apparently our kitchen is not big enough. Which is strange as there are only two of them. Sort of expected it but am still disappointed.
