I've just had a read of this thread and I'm so chuffed to meet like-minded people. My OH is so Humbug but I love Christmas. On the last day of our summer holidays I started talking about who's turn it was for Christmas dinner and he just shook his head at me. :rotfl: There is normally 13-14 of us so it's great fun.
I don't think Christmas was a very happy time for him when he was a kid. I heard him telling our DD she was very lucky as he only got an apple for Christmas and not any fun I thought he was joking and laughed but it turns out he was telling the truth.
Money isn't important, it's the little things that makes christmas fun. Having family around you.
He's in the middle of a surprise trip offshore so we unexpectedly have a wee bit more cash at the moment so I want to start buying items now for Christmas.
On a money saving note. I'm collecting tokens from the daily mail at the moment to get an energy monitor to tell me how much electricity I use so I'm dreading actually knowing how much I use on christmas lights. The outside of my house is like Blackpool illuminations. Inflatable snow globes, santas, snowmen, reindeer and icicle lights. Every year since me and OH have got together I have purchased someting new. People drive by our house to have a look. OH thinks it's tacky, which it is, but I love it.
Might all change this year when I realise how much it costs.

I think we are all so like minded and nice on this thread because we all agree that christmas is not about the presents or material things, but about the cheer and the spirit. I love cheap and tacky when it comes to christmas decorations and you have just got to post a pic of the outside of your house scottish chick when you get it all going
I feel lucky now to cook for 4 with you lot all going on about huge numbers for christmas dinner!!:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0 -
