Organised Christmas 2008.. The countdown has begun!

morning all - we're trimming up and getting the tree today! yey! just about to start dusting in preparation! Yey! Cant believe tomos the beginning of advent and the 'proper' festive season. Am soo excited. Almost dont want it to come round too quickly.

Think we're getting there with the kitchen - just cant wait till its done - hopefully will be before xmas!! and will be glad next week when all the million boxes that are lying around the house for the kids bedroom are sorted and its all decorated.
Started my wrapping last night and will be continuing with it now until its done.

Hi claire and any other newbies - we're not scary - I promise!! Claire - what about doing a family 'advent hamper' with a gift each day of advent to enjoy as a family. Doesnt have to be expensive - little promised on cards such as 'play a board game together', 'watch a xmas dvd', 'go for a wintery walk etc'. Or what about going to see a panto as a family this year? Always gets me in the festive mood.

wrap more gifts/boys adventy gifts

monday -
light up tree dec and something for vase from florist in town
gift bag (med) for andrew
gift bag (turq or silver - med) for james
borrow dawns paper shredder for shred
buy cardboard for labels
buy slippers for boys
wellies for me

next week-
put tester pots on walls
more wrapping
clear space in boys room ready for decorating
get d to print lables
get d to print personalised xmas stories

As well as clean bathroom, ironing and general nasty housework booooo

The forestry commission pooped on me getting my Xmas tree.
Had reserved an item at Argos went to collect and basically got shat on and didnt get the item - apparently its lost in the warehouse - thats right 3 32 piece dinner sets lost somewhere
M&S are leaving me !!!! voice mails on my mobile over my order which theyve messed up
I just dont feel festive anymore its really weird
I know people have got far worse problems than me but urgh just feel like the weekend I had planned has gone completey wrong and I havent done anything at all that I wanted to

I know how you feel - I've been getting so overwhelmed with the kitchen and boys room and how much decorating and stuff there is to do. I find putting everything in a list helps - ie call m and s to sort order, find replacement dinner set etc. You can get it all sorted dont worry - and at the end of the day - its not what the festive spirit is about. Does it really matter if my house is a mess? Do the kids care? Christmas isnt about perfection - its about having fun with loved ones. Have a hot choc/cake and put on the xmas tunes while you get everything out of your head and onto a list. You'll feel much better - promise

My godsons bless em dont care and seem to prefer my house a mess - they actually over looked their presents last week while i had a panic coz i forgot Id had them out looking at them - as they clambered to get the empty boxes Id saved from deliveries

I think Im gonna get me a coffee and watch Santa Claus the Movie in a bit
I think a list may be the way to go

Aww Phunkles, sorry youve had suh a bad weekend.....on the bright side, it can only get better now When will you be getting your tree now then? you have it all to look forward to again :j

I havent done anything christmassy at all today, although I have blitzed downstairs to make it easy to keep up with so it will be nice and clean when the tree goes up, that probly wont be for a week or 2 as I need new dec's.

i know how you feel. my family are all ungrateful g!ts and they're reeeeally getting on my nerves today. all i want to do is get the advent baskets finished and a few of the kids' pressies wrapped. but OH seems incapable of looking after them for more than 10 minutes so i can actually get on with it.

and dd's acting like a total brat to top things off!!! rarrrr *pulling hair out now*

My basket is a relaxing basket, i've got LOADS of ideas all thanks to everyone on here My OH thinks i'm completely off my rocker :rotfl: my OH brother is very creative so i'm sure he will have some, if not i'll go to the florists in the high street:D
I keep putting this smilie :rolleyes: but i've only recently realised its a sarcastic grin(after hovering my mouse over it as i tried not to fall asleep in the early hours of the morning!!:D ) so i just wanted to apologise as i meant it as a genuine smile lol :rotfl: will be using the rofling smile as its better. hahahaha
