Not sure as we have all at sky - aside from broadband now.
I assume you'd pay it to whoever you're paying it to now - ours is Sky.0 -
Hi,
Me and my partner have just moved house.
My partner transferred his BT phone account to our new house. We started broadband with BT at £7.95 for 1st 3 months then £15.99 thereafter. Our broadband was activated on Monday 20th and its a 12 month contract.
Now reading this I can get cheaper broadband through o2.
Anyway I can get out of the BT contract?????!!!0 -
I'm assuming this is October?! There could be some form of cooling off period but don't quote me, usually 14 days. Best thing to do would be to ring up and ask or check what they sent you.0

Hi,
Moved to o2 from freeserve/orange 6 weeks ago after shopping around. We have an o2 payg phone and so are eligible for the £7.50/m.
Were paying £17.99/m to orange for a 8m service which in practice ran at 1.5M via Speednet. local exchange is unbundled with o2, and we are now getting 6-7M via Speednet.
When requesting mac code, orange immediatley reduced charge to £9.99/m with 1 month free, but with no improvement in service.Too little too late!
The changeover took about a week for the mac code to be processed, and we were without a service for only a couple of hours.
Currently IMHO o2 are the bees knees !!
We are very pleased with the o2 UK based free technical assistance, which
has been useful in setting up their router on a wireless 2 computer network. much neater than the orange livebox router.0 -
£120 vs (£90 + £40) = £130 so you basically save £10 a year.
She is getting £120 of mobile calls as well, as long as they are used it's a better deal.Hi,

There may be a cooling off period of 7-10 days, read the contract, but you will still need your BT phone line for the O2 offer.0 -
Does anyone know what sort of bandwidth usage is classed as too high with O2? I have a couple of PC's on most of the day, used for web, gaming, and website maintenance, I seem to be using around 10-15GB per month (upload and download combined). Never had a problem with my current provider (Be) but don't want to have troubles if this is too high for O2.
thanks0 -
Hi I'm a v newbie
I'm with Pipex Homecall. Currently I'm paying £20pm for 1/2 meg broadband. Scary when I see this. My new contract started with them when I moved last Dec about 21 I think, tho I had been with them for about 2 years before the move. Since Tisacli took them over they charge 10p per minute to talk with someone in the far east who seems to know nothing.
As I have an O2 mobile, this offer sounds attractive. Should Pipex have stitched me up with with a new 12 month contract just because I moved? It hasn't got too long to run tho.
Are there any many hurdles to change over providers. I can't afford to lose internet connection.0 -
MSE_Natasha wrote: »Updated 20 October 2008Update 2:30pm 22 October 2008: As well as Quidco, Topcashback is now offering £60 for signing up to o2 broadband.
What's the deal?
For unlimited downloads, o2 already offers the cheapest broadband deal (which doesn't tie in your phone too) at £12.50/month with a speed of 8Mbps, or £7.50 for o2 contract or PAYG mobile customers.
Yet new customers with BT lines signing up to a year's contract via cashback sites Quidco or Topcashback before 31 October get £60 cashback. Factor that in and the cost is reduced to just £7.50/month, or £2.50/month for o2 mobile customers, over the year.
See how this compares in the Cheap Broadband guide.
What else do I get?
The deal also includes a free wireless router so if you have a laptop you'll be able to connect to the net anywhere in the house. If you don't have a laptop it'll work in the same way as a normal modem. Usually providers charge up to £40 for these, though it's possible to pick up a good model for under £30.
Although the package offers unlimited downloads the deal's subject to a ‘fair usage’ policy, so those who are constantly downloading things may make it invoke this clause. However, you’d need to be using really serious amounts for that to happen.
How the cashback works
This isn't the same type of cashback as is often offered with mobile companies, with those you need to jump through hoops to get it. This is via specialist cashback sites that list retailers and product providers.
They get paid by the retailers if you click through them, but importantly, they then give some or all of this cash to you, provided you've registered with it, which is free. For a full explanation read the details Top Cashback Sites guide.
How to get the cash- Step one. Get a cashback account
Simply go to cashback sites Quidco or Topcashback, login and search for o2 broadband.
If you don't have an account with either of these you'll need to get one. It's free to sign up to both, but Quidco takes the first £5 you earn each year as its admin charge. So if this is the only cashback you earn all year, the total will be £55.
- Step two. Sign up for an o2 broadband contract
Next, sign up for the unlimited download contract. You'll be asked for your BT phone number so a quick check can be made to see if o2's broaband service is available in your area. Plus, don't forget to add your o2 mobile number when asked, if you have one, to get the extra discount.
As cashback sites rely on the retailers paying them, you can never count cashback as a sure thing until it's in your bank account. And occassionally there are tracking problems too.
Yet Quidco and Topcashback both know we're including this deal in the weekly email so there's nothing to suggest it won't work for the vast majority of people.
If you're a first time cashback site user, please do read the full Best Cashback Sites article for a full explanation of the pros and cons. Plus to see how the different sites' payouts compare use the Cashback Sites Maximiser.
Non-o2 customers can cut the cost further
It's possible to quickly count as an 'existing o2 mobile customer. Just grab Pay As You Go SIM and top-up at least £10 every three months to keep it active.
So, non-existing customers can save an extra £20/year (£1.66/month) by simply getting a Free o2 Sim and crediting it before taking up the broadband package, even without using its calls.
