I phoned Toucan (Part of Tiscalli I think) to get a MAC code too, and they offered Line Rental, 8Meg unlimited (not even fair usage policy), free weekend and evening calls for £14.98, with the first 3 months free. I was still a bit sceptical because in the past I had to phone their 30p per minute tech support number when my broadband was down, but that fee's dropped to 5p/min apparently and I haven't had a problem for over a year now.

I'm assuming the previous poster means to use your laptop wirelessly (in any room without being connected by an ethernet cable) if you laptop doesn't have a wireless card built in (most laptops within the last 3 years already have one built in)

Well I'd been looking at going to O2 anyway, now I certainly shall be doing. I am heartily sick of Plus Net. Their customer service is bad and it's difficult to actually get hold of anybody. Worse still, the speed is up and down like a yo yo . To be fair all of this has really only been since BT took them over... what more do I have to say?

We have been a long time Virgin customers (10 years) and moved to BT in June this year to get O2 broadband as Virgin couldn't provide us broadband. The moving process was very easy and BT connected us within 10 days and we kept our phone number and there was no service interruptions. O2 connected us within a week of ordering and I'll highly recommend anyone going through Topcashback for cashback as they are free and fast. O2 have been simply brilliant and we are on the cheapest upto 8meg package. We get arounf 6meg in speed and the customer service is simply fantastic. Go for it.

£120 vs (£90 + £40) = £130 so you basically save £10 a year.

Can someone please give me some advice on what I need to do to change my broadband. I'm with Virgin Media for cable tv, phone and broadband. I don't want to be without broadband whilst I'm changing over so what is the procedure? I suppose I could just try to leave Virgin and see if they give me a better offer but if they don't offer it what happens next? How long does it take to change over. I'm completely baffled and confused by broadband offers so not really sure what I need to ask for and don't want to be sucked into something I don't understand!

Btw, I am an O2 customer on contract although my contract is due to expire in December.

It should be done within a couple of weeks if you do change provider. Basically you ring up and tell them you want to move. They may try and keep you and offer you a better deal - you just have to keep saying no unless they give you something you're interested in.

If you're in the middle of the contract then that's where it gets tricky. Generally you have to have a 12 month contract and if you're over that it then you just get the MAC code from them and give it to your new supplier - if you're in the middle of it, it could be an issue and they could charge you each month for your net as per the t&c's you agreed to when joining them (If that's what they said).

Our contract runs out in Feb but we've had some bad quality of service and rang up and spoke to a young man at Sky and they're not charging us for moving Bless him, he said 'it depends how nice a customer you are' Guess it doesn't hurt we're keeping out phone and TV with them too.
