Candygirl - hope your cold goes soon, lentil soup will help (well I think it helps me, but then mine is full of garlic as well, not nice for others though!) Good luck to your dad as well, and boo hiss to your dd's oh, good job they've got you!

Merlot - your post made me laugh! My neighbours all know what's going on too! My friend came round to mend my fence and my oh had 3 calls to tell him that I'd had a strange man round, and I had a couple of neighbours knock to find out what was going on! My next door neighbour asked if I could send him round to her when I'd finished with him!!! Had the same thing with another friend who came to do my garden for me, but I have sent him round to several neighbours, which is great for him cos they are now regular customers, and great for them cos he's very pretty to look at!

Anyway I came back cos I've just looked at the yoghurt I made yesterday and it's turned out fab! I'm so excited! Made some in the sc the other day and it was disgusting, couldn't find the big thermos I used to make it in when ds and dd1 were babes (it was a necessity then as we had no money and I had to feed them something!), anyway I got a cheap one yesterday and threw the stuff in and wowee! Will mix some with honey and serve with tonights blackberry and apple crumble, oh I'm sooo happy - it's the little things!

Edit: silvercharming - hope you've got a turban, guru's always wear turbans!

Sammy - (((hugs))) to you and DH; what a worry for you both.

Cheapskate - welcome to you. I got tired reading your list. I have ten years between my two boys (now nearly 37 and 27 years old) but your gap is even longer. How does it feel to have a young baby and a grandchild at the same time? You'll enjoy this thread.

Beth - I knew it was no use telling you to slow down but just try the slow lane for a while!

Mummsaver - I do need to look for slippers so will try Primark next time I am in town; thanks for the advice.

Well, I went up to the local shop to get some milk and got caught in the rain just a couple of minutes from home so I didn't get too soaked. It's brighter now but I don't trust it enough to put the washing out! I've changed the sheets, hoovered and dusted upstairs and downstairs and put half the dough from the BM into the Remoska as mini-rolls and half with make a bigger loaf.I haven't tried rolls in the 'Moska yet so will be interested to see how they come out.

Well, I'd better go and get on with something constructive.

    See you all later on.

Sammy.....is your husband self employed....he can claim some sort of sick pay money if he is.
Try googling it, it's not as much as SSP for the employed, but every little helps.

Morning all - late for work today as OH still hadn't packed and his flight is at 2 pm :eek And he had to be at the solicitor at 9.30 am to sign his will - and he had to pick the travel insurance documents up from work :wall: Still, we had a nice evening last night, but I was so tired I fell asleep really early (might have been the wine) :) I cooked roasted cod with truffle and butter sauce, braised savoy cabbage with pancetta and little potatoes - I had quorn :D then chocolate and cointreau souflee for dessert in the end

I've just dictated a reference for a guy I've only met once for 20 mins - a college standing behind me going "he's a nice bloke and works hard, how do I say that?" - I seem to have the art of BS this morning :) I have also just been told to walk into accounts to check if the accounts officer is around - not for any reason, just because a friend downstairs is waiting for him to e-mail her (not work related - it's kinda cute) *sigh* Work is okay still plodding along - only I've just found out they've offered a completely evil man a job here (worse than Dr Jeckyll!) so I'm glad I'm leaving. Looks like they've made him professor too - there are some things that just shouldn't happen.

Nothing much to do when I get home, other than start deep cleaning the flat and sort out some pear chutney. I had the rest of the chocolate souffle for breakfast :D

Sammyjig - hugs for you and your DH
    ladygrim - congrats
    hi cheapskate and lilycharlotte
    well done taplady
((hugs)) pink - you're doing loads and loads of hard work, you must be shattered (and your not ranting :) )
    pen-pin - good luck this afternoon :)
Hester - go easy on your shoulder if you can. Hope your new head has the guts to put into practice what he says :)
Candy - I don't think it matters what age they are! hugs for you and your dad.
sistercas :rotfl: my sister calls them that too.

I need to find a birthday present for my mum, but I have no idea.

  • Morning all!

I have not long got up :o oops. Have been reading in bed. Our DD is still asleep from last night (she went to bed at 6pm) but she was awake a lot in the night. I could hear her having a little chat with her bunny toy. She kept drifting off but obviously I was awake for hours then!

So now I have a mug of hot chocolate. I've put the washing on and decided on corned beef hash and beans for dinner (fish aswell for the OH as he is greedy!)

Was planning a nice walk to the shops today but as it is pouring down will have to see what it's like later on maybe. We need bread! And chocolate! :rotfl:

DD probably won't have a sleep today, which means I am going to atempt to do housework with her in tow. She likes to polish so she can help! All downstairs jobs today so that makes life a little easier.

Must phone to University today as I still don't have a placement for my course, even though they said they would sort it out - then they said I had to sort it out, but no one got back to me so now I don't know what's going on!!

Hope it's not raining too much and that everyone has a good day!

    xXx

  • Morning Chums DD was very damp this morning after taking her last little one Mikey (4) to school, but she knows he has to go.He looked very smart and was beaming for England when he went in.The next one up Henry (7) has started in the Juniors along with his next brother up Jack (8).She has two at senior school as well.
We both felt a bit wobbly this morning as he went in but it soon passed and he will be out at lunchtime to tell us all about what he got up to.
Weather is a bit damp and drissley this morning so I'm not doing a great deal today.
I think I might put on a nice rice pud in the oven, am need of a bit of comfort food I think, plus I have quite a lot of spare mlk to use up. Twinks hob-nobs were lovely and my biscuit tin is full, won't be for long once the grandchildren know they are there.
A NSD for me today as I am staying away from the shops and using up my stores for a few weeks.
<<hugs to those in need>> and a big ;) to the rest of you
    Have a good day

P.S. I have been pondering about the Remoska, is it cheaper to run than a SC would you say ?

    morning again,

Have been up to the station to renew dd's ticket, got it till Xmas and it was £86  , still not too bad as I had put £50 aside for it, I could have got it up till Oct half term but would have then had to get it till xmas any way, so it will save me a job then. Also popped into Mr T to get her some tights, pens etc, and get some petrol, looked at the brollies and they are £10  , so thanks for the tip mummysaver, I will go to poundland and get one, any hoo that little bit of necessary running around had worn me out so its back on the sofa for me, I will make some lunch in a while and then do nothing, I will be glad to get back to normal, the house is ticking over thanks to my dd, but needs a good clean, hopefully I can do it next week.

    Congrats to Taplady :T

Candy, hope you feel better soon, you are really going through the mill at the moment, hugs to you and yours xx

hugs to sammy and hubbie xx

Sammyjig, if OH isn't getting any sick pay at all then he will be entitled to some help. He should get SSP, if not he needs to call up for incapacity benefit/income support as soon as possible. Incapacity benefit depends on how much his national insurance contributions have been over the last few years, if he doesn't qualify he should get income support. Also if he ususally pays the rent/council tax you should be able to get help with those.

Benefit claims have to be done on the phone now - it's a good 35-40 minute phonecall (but it is a freephone, 0800 0556688) and they'll want details about your OH, you, your kids, both of yours' work histories for the last 6 months-year, your housing details, the details of anyone else who lives there, your accounts if either of you are/were self employed, the tax credits and any other benefits you get, and the balances of all bank accounts held in your family. It's a lot of information, I know, I used to work there.

I do hope everything comes out okay for you x
