12 Free Bottles of Wine loophole with Smile

Ok guys, just a quick note regarding this offer.
Yeah you get the 12 bottles of wine, but you will probably have to wait until Jan 31st (for people opened an account in Oct - mid Nov) and end of Feb (for people opened an account in Nov- Dec). Reason being is smile want you to stay with them for at least 3 months and then decide to switch, instead of just opening acc, getting wine and then closing it down.
Wine is good, is from virginwines and if you don't like the case smile offer you get £50 to put towards any other case of wine.
STUDENTS CAN open a current account BUT have to open as a BRAND NEW CUSTOMER. Going to smile.co.uk and starting the app ALL AGAIN. This is the only way for students to own a current account.
How do I know all this? I work for smile. They have the best customer service and once a week for over 3 hours we listen to calls, look at customer service etc and make sure it's the best we can do - this can get bloody annoying at times!
So there you go, from the horses mouth per say!
FYI : If people have opened an account and are looking to OPEN MORE accounts with smile (Sav, ISA, Credit Card etc) PLEASE PLEASE email me and I'll give you my number to call at work, as you get what you want and I get 1 point towards my sales and customer service targets!
You didn't hear this from me:
T&Cs of smile: Need to credit £1000 OR Salary/Pension OR (and the good part and loophole) A regular monthly payment EACH MONTH. Ie you pay £200 or £100 a month, each month, you're within the T&Cs!!!!0 -
SparciaM, as a Smile insider, could you give me some advice please?
How many instant savings accounts are you allowed to open. I already have one but would like to open more if possible.
Thanks0 -
Hi lemfizz,
You can open as many as you like. The only downside is that you can't rename them, so you'll have to remember your account number.
You can only open one at a time, but once opened (which takes 1 day if good cust) you can open more.
I've sent ya a private message on the subject, please read!0 -

The T&Sc of the wine offer say:
"Wine qualification upon first credit transaction of £1500 minimum by 10th February 2006. smile wine promotion ends 10th December 2005. All current account applications must be applied for by 10th December 2005. Wine redemption code will be dispatched by no later than 28th February 2006. A delivery charge of £4.99 is payable upon order of wine. This offer is only available to customer who are residents in the UK. This offer is not open to previous or existing customers of smile. This offer excludes CIS and Co-operative Bank staff. smile has the right to withdraw the offer at any time."
Nothing about how long you must keep the account open for!0 -
I've opened one of these accounts and it's been approved. I applied a couple of days ago.
I’m sure I’ve seen something about getting emails to refer friends to join. Does this also apply when you’ve just opened the account and if so when?
Anyone know?
Thanks,

purplepatch wrote:I've got that email too today, and that's after my husband applied for an account last week to get the 12 bottles!!
I've emailed them pointing out that I've already recommended someone and quoted the code and asked if there's any chance I can have some wine too.
Won't hold my breath though.
As expected, they said no
:xmassmile Where's the Bah Humbug smiley when you need it?!0 -
Firstly to mr_fishbulb: This offer has been running since October - so YES there is no timeframe to keep account open, BUT if you close before you get the WINE you WONT get it. SIMPLE AS. It's a marketing plan to get people into smile.
As if you close your account, they have nowhere to send the wine code to!!! Also, smile can withdraw the promotion at ANY time - (which is in the T&Cs)
Secondly, to Purplepatch - what did u say about reffering a friend?!? If you just say I've referred a friend, where's my wine - YOU'LL GET IT!
Problem is, these types of marketing deals, people ALWAYS get it no matter what! No-one checks all secure message to see if you eligible, If you moan enough - ie 5 secure messages you'll be set for the offer TRUST ME!!!
FINALLY! WHY SMILE?!?!
This aint to try and get people to join smile, as I personally don't care either way. I'm doing an MA in Crime, Law and Society and smile pay (somewhat) towards that!! So why smile really?!? Well they're not a bad company to bank with. We've got one of the best UK based call centres and people actually want to HELP you.
I've got a smile acc and a Co-op (Co-op cause u have to, but i transfer wages every month straight into smile). Smile aren't great on savings 4% and ISA 4.65%, but they're good on getting someone to understand what u want, also they're partnered with post offices, so u pay cash and chqs there as well as taking cash out!!!
EITHER WAY! It aint the worst account on the market, HSBC being the worst I would say (my main current account) as they've moved to India and no-one understands anything!!!!
SECOND FINALLY: FYI, there's a new Recommend a friend deal just starting with smile also! So get ready!!!0 -

Yes they can withdraw the promotion to new customers, but for people who have already signed up and deposited £1500+ they have to fulfill their contract.0 -

I did a really friendly secure message saying i recommended hubby to get smile account last week under the 12 bottles of wine offer and today have received email from you saying that if I recommend a friend and they quote code XXXXXXX then I can get 12 bottles of wine too! I know he had already just applied but just wondering in view of the circumstances if you might be willing to let me have some wine too.....
Got a flat No, sorry, you are not eligible to receive the wine.
Cheers and a merry christmas to you too!
Perhaps they looked at my account and saw that there has been no activity on it since I opened it to claim 6 bottles of wine last year!
