true but I think they want us to take the sky phone line which is £10:50 / month. This would mean I have to cancel the BT line.

Make sure the sales guy isnt trying to persuade you into an option which isnt necessary. I believe you dont need to take their line rental only the talk option you also have a couple of months before they charge the extra fiver.
  • Your BT line doesn't change, you keep your number, all that happens is that you pay the money for the rental to Sky who pass it onto BT. If you don't agree with paying BT's £4.50 admin charge then it's cheaper to do it this way.

I rang up today to cancel movies and sports (only had them a month to watch England rugby - shame) and asked if there was a way I could save money on HD (as it's 10 quid above the single basic mix price of £17). I was very polite, didn't threaten anything but said I couldn't afford it really. They said no way. I was resigned to paying £27 for my HD.... then the man on the phone offered Sky World (all mixes, movies and sport) for three months for £30 with free HD. He told me it was a seasonal offer they do every year...

So, phone up to cancel your movies and sports (you can always add them again) and see what happens.

No doubt when I cancel again in three months time they won't offer me anything, but at least I get Movies and Sports for £3 a month til then.

When I rang they told me there are no offers available so I asked to cancel the whole thing. It goes off 31 December, would have been happy with a slight discount and I was at my politest (if that's a word!)
  • I know this prob is in the wrong thread as you are talking about sky plus boxes etc but I managed to get the sky plus box back in Nov at a good price as was ordered in oct so think it was £49 anyway just rang to ask if I had any offers on my account and was told about sky movies for £5 pm for 3 mths of course I said yep please....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just so unfair! I begged them for an offer on the movies package for Christmas as money is so tight but was given nothing! I'm going into the corner to cry now!

I got nothing either - going to call again and see what happens when I speak to a different operator.
  • Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of upgrading to a Sky+ box and yesterday at home I went onto the website and logged in but kept getting an error. I tried at different times of the day and still got the same error which was saying we are unable to continue, please ring one of the following numbers. I didn't have time yesterday to phone them.

So does anyone reckon if I phone them that I might get the box for free or still pay £99 and do I still have to pay £60 installation even if I'm an existing customer?

Also does the Sky+ box replace the normal digital box?
  • *bump* Sorry to bump this thread but I was just wondering if someone can answer my above questions, thanks :)

Thanks for replying. In my local shopping centre, there's people from Sky. Maybe I should ask them...
