Folks, I gave my brother some tips on how to get a discount on SKY PLUS installation . I asked him to stick to his guns and take it right thru to cancellations. Guess what ....he got cancelled!
Now I need to think of plan B to get him reconnected, otherwise it's going to be a quiet Xmas for him
Does anyone have any advice for getting reconnected + getting a deal? The best outcome would be to get SKY+ for free or £49
Kind Regards, Candlequeen :jRegards

I rang sky this week to cancel (customer for nearly nine yaers) but was relly only looking for a deal for sky+. Currently have broadband with AOL (tied in for another year) and phone line rental with BT.
Just told guy I wanted to cancel as I was trying to reduce my outgoings and couldn't afford sky anymore.
Without asking for anything Sky have now taken over my phone line rental from BT for free for 12 months saving me £14 a month. They are also installing Sky+ this Friday for £49 and I am also getting multi room with the 1st six months for £5 and a tenner a month for the next six, at which point I can cancel and use the box for digital freeview in my bedroom.
I am delighted with the deal and would agree with skyworker that by being polite and just going on looking to see what you can get is the best policy. :T :T0 -
hi all......really want a free sky plus box but dont wanna pay for it as i been with sky for a while.......really annoys me that they`ll offer it for new customers but not loyal existing customers......soooo......was wondering if there is nyone on here that isnt with sky yet but wants to......and whether theyd like to become my "friend" for a referral so we can both get a free sky+ box ........im too scared to try cancelling my sub incase they say ok , then im left without sky over xmas.....
Even when you cancel (I have left before), when you telephone to have it truned back on it only takes a few hours. I rang the day 'Lost' came back on as I am an avid Lost fan. I asked how long it would take and the guy on the phone said "Are you a Lost fan too?". Must have been a few people calling that day.
And yes... it did come back on just as promised a couple of hours laterI want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -

More than likely Sky will ring during the next 30 days to offer something to tempt him back. If not, you can alsways ring back in the next 30 days and get reconnected.0 -

Why not phone them and quote stluke03s offer - free Sky+, free install and half price package for 6 months."gift sky 22c " I know that offer end date has gone, but in my experience these end dates seem to be very flexible.
I got sky+ box installed all free this week - which kids are enjoying.
I must read the instruction booklet so I can start getting the benefit
As has been said thouands of times on these SKY threads - a lot depends on the person answering the phone.
Try phoning on a different day of the week, at a different time, even go through to a different department....reconnections, cancellations, customer services, activations etc
Good luck0 -
I rang up today to cancel movies and sports (only had them a month to watch England rugby - shame) and asked if there was a way I could save money on HD (as it's 10 quid above the single basic mix price of £17). I was very polite, didn't threaten anything but said I couldn't afford it really. They said no way. I was resigned to paying £27 for my HD.... then the man on the phone offered Sky World (all mixes, movies and sport) for three months for £30 with free HD. He told me it was a seasonal offer they do every year...
So, phone up to cancel your movies and sports (you can always add them again) and see what happens.
No doubt when I cancel again in three months time they won't offer me anything, but at least I get Movies and Sports for £3 a month til then.0 -

I've just received a not ein the post from SKy saying they're increasing the cost of my package by £5/ month unless I join their Sky talk and get a Sky phone line. Thing is I currently have BT - anybody know whether I can cancel BT if i've been with them for more than a year, how easy is the switch from BT to Sky Talk - anyone have any bad experiences? I know I'd save a couple of £ a month as Sky Talk is chepaer than Bt but don't really want to tie myself into a 12 month contract with SKy Talk?
Thanks for your help0 -
You still keep your BT line but your calls go through Sky. It's free and you get free evening and weekend calls. We've had no issues with it.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130
