Because most likely, whether you know it or not, you got a pretty good deal when you yourself were a new customer. Sales advisors can offer certain deals at their own discretion and can do so without informing customers (Eg. One advisor this morning gave an old lady a free sky+ box because she spent the entire call being incredibly polite, friendly and attentive to him). She didn't ask for any deals and wasn't aware that the free box wasn't the norm.

Our advisors gain absolutely nothing from giving customers better deals. On the flipside, they generally gain nothing from witholding offers. Our sales targets are only very gently enforced. If you call up and are quoted full price and the advisor sticks to it rigidly, it is because you are either rude, abrupt, not paying attention or generally making the advisors job difficult. My top tip would be to be nice, feign an interest in the person who is, afterall, only doing their job, speak clearly and don't try and lead the call or bully a better offer out.

Call centre work is often soul destoying, so if you make someone's day a little easier, it'll often be rewarded

I`m always polite and never make anyones job difficult.....i work with the public myself and know how difficult customers can be so never act this way myself.......anyway , thanks for your reply, :)

After 3 phone calls (all polite!) and 2 emails asking for info/best price on Sky+ I was about to give up.
I sent an email on Saturday saying I wanted Sky+ but not at the price quoted (160 although on one call managed to get it down to 145! wohoo).

Received a phone call today from a lovely scottish lady who said I could have it free but pay £60 installation. :j

I know others have got it for £49 but I was happy at £60 and did not want to push my luck.

Very pleased, being installed next wednesday.

One question though, I said no to multiroom as cannot afford a further £10 per month. Im wondering now, can they install it anyway but whereby I just get regular channels- my freeview broke last week and the signal off my tv aerial is rubbish- so saving on the monthly fee but getting much clearer picture upstairs.

    Thanks
