Sky subscription "credit crunch" offer

No, just told me I could not have it as we only canx in July.
Offered me free HD box and £50 M&S vouchers instead.
No good for me - want to reduce outgoings, not increase them.0 -
You cannot change your package otherwise your price will revert to standard. If you had got the 6 mixes it still would have been free. The only channels you can't have for free are the movies and sports. You could try calling back before you get it installed and see if they will change it for you?
I think Stoopid (who I'm sure isnt really!;) ) got a different offer because they are paying the monthly subscription & they got the £50 M&S voucher which isn't part of the 'all for free' offer. I think they should still be able to change their package if they want to once its installed because they will be paying the normal monthly subscription rate.0 -
hi all......really want a free sky plus box but dont wanna pay for it as i been with sky for a while.......really annoys me that they`ll offer it for new customers but not loyal existing customers......soooo......was wondering if there is nyone on here that isnt with sky yet but wants to......and whether theyd like to become my "friend" for a referral so we can both get a free sky+ box ........im too scared to try cancelling my sub incase they say ok , then im left without sky over xmas.....0

The only way you will get Sky+ free or at reduced price is to speak to the cancellation dept at sky and tell them you want to CANCEL.
They are there to retain you so will only offer you a deal if they think you will leave - not just threaten to leave.
Tell them you want to cancel because your old sky box is not working properly and keeps freezing and you are unable or unwilling to pay for a new one so close to xmas.
They will offer you sky+.
Don't worry if they do cancel you - they only put you on 30 days notice and you can call up on the 29th day and change your mind and not cancel.
You will have a call before the 30 days is up though from Sky trying to get you to stay with them.
Go for it and insist you want to cancel.0 -
My Dh have been discussing this and he thinks they would only offer it to people in the full package we only pay £18 per month, he thiknks they wouldn't care about losing such a small amount.
Any advice?I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Someone posted at 12:10pm today on HUKD that they placed order using code and it was processed fine. Perhaps they won't let you change because you've already signed up using another offer??
just a guess, might be wrong
Hey, I work for sky in one of their call centres - The offer of freesky+, install and subscription for a year is only valid for friends and family of employees. We've all been given 3 codes that can be used a maximum of 3 times, to be distributed as we see fit. (One of the only perks for working for Sky). The offer code that has been appearing all over the internet has been used approx. 250 times and has been sent around all UK call centres. The employee who leaked this code has been identified and dismissed for gross misconduct. The latest news that we have is that accounts set up with this code are under investigation as outlined by t's&c's and the whole promotion may be scrapped. If your account is active and installed, you should be fine. If your dish has not yet been installed, expect a call or letter in the next few days.0 -
hey skyworker.......why is it that existing customers get lesser deals than new customers??? i think that the offers should be reversed so existing customers get to upgrade to a better box for free seeing as they been paying regulary for years and new customers should get a standard box free n free installation.
would save us all ringing up to cancel when all we want is a better deal0 -

Because most likely, whether you know it or not, you got a pretty good deal when you yourself were a new customer. Sales advisors can offer certain deals at their own discretion and can do so without informing customers (Eg. One advisor this morning gave an old lady a free sky+ box because she spent the entire call being incredibly polite, friendly and attentive to him). She didn't ask for any deals and wasn't aware that the free box wasn't the norm.
Our advisors gain absolutely nothing from giving customers better deals. On the flipside, they generally gain nothing from witholding offers. Our sales targets are only very gently enforced. If you call up and are quoted full price and the advisor sticks to it rigidly, it is because you are either rude, abrupt, not paying attention or generally making the advisors job difficult. My top tip would be to be nice, feign an interest in the person who is, afterall, only doing their job, speak clearly and don't try and lead the call or bully a better offer out.
Call centre work is often soul destoying, so if you make someone's day a little easier, it'll often be rewarded0 -
My sister tried the cancel route yesterday and they would only offer her a sky+ for £79.99 not the £49.99 that I got on thursday - does anyone know why? Also the cancel dept would not give 6 months mutli room at £5 either.0
