Sky are going to increase the cost of Broadband for Non Sky Talk users.See:
    http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-news-announcements/26662-update-sky-broadband-pricing-changes.html

Also if you have a BT Line and just cps your calls to Sky Talk you can no longer use the BT override code 1280 to place some calls via BT ,so you qualify for Free Caller Display/ Call Minder from BT ,also 0845/0870 calls are much cheaper from BT.

  • Hi all,

I phoned sky with the intention of cancelling, fed them the sob story about how i'm trying to cut back on spending, "Credit Crunch", baby to support etc, etc. I am a sky+ customer and was paying £45 per month. I've been offered a deal for the Full channel package until 15th Feb for £30 per month. The adviser told me to phone back in Feb to see if there was another deal on, if not then i can choose the package i want. Quite happy with that though. anyone else done this and if so what deals have you had?.:money:
  • I have been a sky customer for many years (since BskyB). We have the full package with 2 sky plus boxes and a digi box in daughters room. This comes to £73 a month. I need to bring this down a bit but we all watch different things. When I called CS they just suggested cutting the package down but by stopping the sports channel it only went down by about £4. I called thier bluff and said cancel it all and she said ok! We had a letter about 2 weeks ago saying it's all going off on Monday 24th Nov and anything on the hard drive will be lost. I thought thay may have rang/wrote by now asking if we've changed our minds and offering us a deal to stay with them but they have not yet and hubby is starting to twitch!!!!!!!!
Has anyone done this and did sky call to try and retain business??
    Cheers!
  • I phoned sky in september to try and get a better deal ,gave them the money is tight etc story, got nowhere with them, told them to cancel, they called my bluff and cut me off a month later.

For the last six weeks I have heard nothing from them.

To be honest I havn't missed sky as much as I thought I would, apart from the sky+ facility. But the family are giving me earache over it.

So I dont know what to do, bide my time hoping for an offer, or crawl back to them with my tail between my legs.

in this time of credit crunch, i think that sky will do ok as everyone is cutting back with the spending and if you need to stay at home for entertainment well then it is cheaper to have sky. and i do think that they are fair in the deals they offer

usually you would get an offer through the post within 2 weeks of the service being stopped, to get you to reconnect, but going by thomas18 post, then they may have changed this practice, only time will tell, Dave
Take every day as it comes!!

You write one better Red Rabbit. God some people are so critical!!!

It was an absolutely appualing bad worded letter. It will get him absolutely nowhere if he was to send that to Sky. This forum is about helping people, hopefully it saved him the cost of a stamp...

  • be very careful when i phoned up yesterday she quickly said i can offer you sky sports for 3 months then muttered something about sky talk when i asked her to repeat what she just said it was sky sports for £3 per month for 3 months if i joined sky talk , i said i didnt want sky talk at which point the lady sri lanka sarah told me i couldnt unless i put my line rental with them next thing her supervisor inturrupted the call and told me now if you want sky sports for £3 per month for 3 months they will put you on your sky talk package be care ul as my telephone line is owned by orange at the moment and if i had let sky take over the line i would of had to pay orange a small fortune
  • just gone back to sky, after trying to get a deal a few months ago, no deals said have to cancel then, lady said ok 30 days later no sky.

keep getting cards/letters with what deals they had on. the last one was great for me
no line rental for 12 months
    plus free broadband
    movies 1
    childrens pack
free extra box, and sky would come out next day to fix the extra box free
36 quid. l said ok,the lady say sky would be on within 2 hours, 2 hours later nothing, so rang back told the man what happened, give him my ref number,
then offered me all the channels plus free 12 line rental, plus free broadband, and the extra box all for 24 quid, happy days
