I got rid of SKY completely. I was payng £47 per month for 2 mixes, Sky Sports, SKY+ and a multiroom. When we looked at the SKY+ planner (which was 75% full) we found that apart from 4 weeks of un-watched Gladiators (the kids) everything that was recorded on series link (ie; the stuff we actually wanted to watch) was all on free to view channels. Admittedly I have kept Setanta, but £13 is much better value that £37.

Now we have changed one Sky box over to a HD Freesat box, and in 2 weeks or so I will be buying a Freesat+ box for the main TV to go with my new Samsung 50inch 1080p plasma.

My point? Don't get sucked into having SKY because you watch 1 or 3 things a week on non-Freesat channels. It has been surprising in the last month or 2 how many people have realised they are wasting £20+ a month for little return from SKY.

same here we got rid of multi room in june and only have the free view we missed sky + thought it would be hard to manage without it, we have talked about getting sky back for xmas and i have kept a note of what we watch
bbc1 bbc2 itv channel 4. the only thing i will miss NOT is Lost after seeing it from the start but know doubt i can read about it? or buy the dvd.
We have had sky from the beginning, I used to work for bsb and got that free, can't even work out how many years back that was but we don't miss sky and are saving a fortune £40 a month

Did you get put through to cancellations or did you just speak to whoever answered the phone first. What number did you ring on. Cheers

This is the number i rang 01506677000 (landline) i selected option 3 existing customer then option 5 other questions and option 3 to upgrade or remove packages. i spoke to a really nice man, as i said before i just told him i was struggling to pay my bills and asked was there any help. hope it works for you.
  • I just tried it but the guy i had was an idiot. He says the minimum i can pay is £17 a month. I then told him i want to cancel cos i can't afford that but he still wouldn't budge. In the end i made an excuse and hung up. I guess sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

On the 7th of November I gave 30 days notice on my sky acct after 8 years of £45-£50/month and purchasing my own sky plus box!
I was asking for a discount on your services, now after this weeks "information search" I am one step away from being a Virgin Media customer.
Out of respect for the last 8 years of viewing I give you the choice as to whether you wish to keep me as a customer, before I commit my self to another 12 month contract with another provider.”

I am not interested in unlimited phone calls or broadband, I am looking for a discount on my services cost, as are my customers who pay for services from myself.

Hard times are here for all of us during the “credit crunch”

I believe I am the perfect Sky Customer, look at my details of account for your own opinion.
You (as in Sky) are about to loose me.

I wish I could afford to do business like Sky.
    I value my paying customers.

Been paying for the full package with Sky for the last 5 years and every time I ring up I get nothing! No discount offer or anything, all I could get was free line rental and unlimited calls but I never ring out on the house phone so whats the point? Really dont know how you guys do it but well done.

St Luke - is that the letter you're proposing to write to Sky? If so, I wouldn't or they'll laugh in your face. It looks like it's been written by a 5 year old.

how rude - were you bullied at school?
