I rang them to downgrade our package and we are now only paying £10 a month for ALL chanels, we have sky+ as well so as far as Im concerned £10 a month for the next 3 months is much better than the £57 a month (we have multiroom as well)! I rang them on the customer services number.0

Called them back on Friday to move everything over to them (Sky Max broadband, phone line rental and Sky Talk unlimited). Got given 12 months free line rental, 6 months free Sky Talk unlimited, free activation for the BB.
Told'em I'll be back to get Sky HD out of them for free in 6 months time.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

We are really struggling for money what with being stuck with northern rock and not being able to remortgage because of lack of equity in house, fixed rate is now at an end and our mortgage has gone up, so thought I would try and at least reduce our sky package if possible.
Rang and asked if I was outside of my 12 month contract for the broadband, they said yes, so I asked to be put through to cancellations. Long wait, bout 6 mins. The guy was very friendly, and I am very grateful. I wasn't expecting much, so not got all the amazing offers some of you have but I was prepared to cancel.
I told him our mortgage has gone up because of northern rock and we can't afford sky anymore, even tho been a customer for 8 years, so he offered to halve our multi-room package, a saving of £5 per month and is moving our line rental over for free for 12 months, a saving of £11.50 per month that we normally pay to BT! Also got free evening and weekend calls, possible saving of £4 a month don't have any free calls with tesco phone, and knocked £2 off our overall package per month, so a total monthly saving of £22.50. I am very happy.

It looks like everybody is trying to get a better deal I am trying to get through to sky now and the customer service operator told me there is 30 min wait to get through to the cancellation dept.....
Hope they can offer me a good deal after the long wait...;)0 -
Ok just finshed with Sky ......
Here's the deal they gave me the free unlimited call plan for free for 12 months thats a saving of £60 they would have given free line rental too for 12 months but unfortunately i'm in a contract with BT so no saving there
However he wouldn't give me any savings on my Sky subscription saying that if he did everybody would be calling saying they wanted to cancel. So I was lucky that this was my second call of the evening as previously the nice lady I spoke to earlier gave me a discount off my movies package £5 per month for 3 months that with 4 mixes now totals £25 per month instead of £36
Glad I read some of the later posts otherwise I wouldn't have called back about my phone so all in all not a bad evenings work
Thanks everyone :T
PS It looks like they getting wise to people calling to cancel so they are not offering all discounts at once..... So maybe if you don't get what you want the first time call back......:j0 -
I have been on the phone tonight and after terrible service (on the phone for an hour then being cut off, then calling back and just hearing someone eating down the phone who clearly couldn't hear me) I finally called for the 3rd time and managed to speak to someone and I cancelled my account. I wasn't offered any kind of discount and wasn't even asked any questions.
I am glad because I looked at the list of channels available on freesat (http://www.freesat.co.uk/index.php?page=whatson.Main) and these are the only ones I watch on sky anyway, so I was paying for nothing.
For those who don't want to give up Sky+, you can pay £10 a month for it if you dont subscribe to sky. It costs £20 for a freesat card and you can use your existing box.
It looks like loads of people are cancelling tonight as it took absolutely ages to get through to cancellations.
Make sure you use the geographical number everyone, as you'll be on hold for ages.0 -

Freesat is a completely different entity to what you get when you cancel your Sky sub. The channels you will receive are listed HERE. Also, you don't need to spend £20 on a Freesat from Sky card; your card will become one automatically.0
