    Good for you :)

Most people that posting in these threads, however, DO want Sky!

Couldn't live without the football, myself, the kids love Playhouse Disney & others, and the mrs loves all sorts of womens channels and the music.

I would much prefer to get rid of 1 - 5 (or at least BBC) and save myself money on the TV liscence if that was possible! Much more expensive, per channel!
    Here Here!
I love Sky1 and Sky2, most of the UKTV network, Discovery and Movies. My boyfriend and I NEVER watch any of the BBC channels, the only program we do like is Top Gear and that ends up on Dave.
I only listen to BBC radio and they get bearly anything from the liscence fee so I'd scrap the TV licence and pay for a radio one instead that'd be far far far far far cheaper!!!!!!!!!!
BOG OFF BBC TV, YOU'RE RUBBISH:mad:

Just phoned to cancel the Sky Sports package we had a couple of months ago for a particular event. Haven't watched sports recently.

Was told each customer was entitled to a promotion every 6 months, so was offered to keep Sports for £25 a month for 3 months. We don't watch it anyway so not worth it really so have downgraded back to basic package. However this meant I haven't had any promotional benefit. (Sad face smiley)

phoned sky cancellation dept yesterday, gave them the usual spiel about money being tight and can't afford £40 a month, and waiting to see if they offered anything.

Upshot is, they offered nothing, called my bluff and i am now getting disconnected on Oct 8.

I havn't told the wife and kids yet.

If they disconnect you then let them its their loss.

You just use Quidco to order Sky on line get £15 from Sky for ordering on-line and £70 cashback from Quidco. Use the landline number if phoning 01506421884 but you wont get cashback by phoning.

I just called Sky to get Sky Sports in time for the Champions League matches.

I didn't lie, beat around the bush or threaten cancellation and I went through to the Turkish office. I simply said "I'm interested in Sky Sports - Do yuo guys have any deals on?" He said yes and I got Sky Sports for 3 months at half price.

Sky 'offer' customers a deal every 6 months, but the customer has to contact Sky and request it. They won't call you first! I believe that many people on this thread may not have got a deal as they are outwith their personal 6 month 'deal period'.

I'm sure there are others who have just had the misfortune of bumping into a customer service representitive who's having a bad day!

Good luck to you all anyway - My top tip is to be upfront and don't try to sneak a deal out of them. Be curteous and cheerful, ask them how their day's been etc. Imagine you were at the other end and someone was trying to back you up, threaten cancellation etc - You'd just want to get rid of them. Whereas if their nice, you'd do your best to get them a deal.

as for the 6 month rule, I've rung up twice this year and both times got offered zilch, even when I mentioned the setanta 6.99 offer and that I may drop my sports for that, the reply was "yes I've heard they're doing a good deal", first time I rang up I wasn't allowed the deal that was doing the rounds because I wasn't one of the select few to receive the promo card...............I've been a customer for 12 years and I'd say I've had maybe 3 deals in that time...........screw them, I'm going back to the old days of football on the radio, imagining how the game is going, and watching highlights later..............and waiting for them to welcome me back to sky sports with a nice promo card through the post.......................

failing that my mate has sky hd and a projector so all round his lol!

  • I have been subscriber since 1980's apart from 2 years when I lived in Norway. I got a flyer thru the post offering new people who I introduced SkyHD and installation for £99 and I got £50 M&S vouchers. I was fuming as a few weeks previous I had phoned to see if there were any deals for HD and was told £150 plus installation of £60. Told them I wanted to cancel and only offer I got was Sky HD for £100. Told them to poke it. Subscription finishes in 7 days. Will phone again to see if they will offer new deal to keep my business but will not hold my breath. Existing subscribers are treated like second rate citizens and Sky want us to do the dirty work for them i.e. recruit new subscribers. I would love to know how much I have spent with them over the years. I even stayed with them for BB at £17 a month for over 18 months after being told my exchange was to become bundled 4 months after I started taking SkyBB. Been with TalkTalk since beginning of June and exchange still not bundled for SkyBB. All these advertisements for cheap total packages? don't make me laugh.
Don't let the B*****d's grind you down.

I was advised by a family member to ring Sky and threaten to cancel my subscription, whereupon I would be offered a great deal to get me to stay. So I rang them and said I was reviewing my outgoings and wanted to cancel Sky because we weren't using it sufficiently. They said, OK, fine.

    Um.

I did get advantage out of it, though, because when you cancel, it takes effect immediately, but your coverage continues for 30 days. I timed it so that the 30 days ran out the day we went on holiday (away for a month) and we lasted a week after we got back before I gave in and rang for it to be re-instated. The girl who took my reinstatement call was very good, and put me on a relatively cheap package and it started within minutes of my phone call

I got a letter a few months back notifying me that my subscription was going up from £63 - £67  I guess the £4 increase was for everyone!!!!

What on earth do you get for £67? I'd suggest a bit of research to bring this down.
