  • As somebody who is almost house bound due to disability I would not be without sky. I am a HD subscriber and although I find the £10 mth for hd a little difficult to swallow (only 14 channels and a lot of them don't show HD features all day. A large amount of bbc,ch4 etc don't always show HD programs. For instance as I type this I am watching Lord of the rings on 4HD and guess what? It's not HD.) I still find SKY excellent value for money. Also the rare occasions I have rung customer services I have always got through quickly to a english (well scotish) speaking person and have been dealt with in a professional manor. For somebody who has the time to watch an awful lot of tv ( I'm a star on the quiz team now due to all the crap I watch. You do learn stuff though) I wouldn't go elsewhere. BUT if you are struggling for money it does seem true that they will often do you a deal to stop you leaving. Give them a ring. What have you got to lose?:rotfl:
  • phoned sky cancellation dept yesterday, gave them the usual spiel about money being tight and can't afford £40 a month, and waiting to see if they offered anything.

Upshot is, they offered nothing, called my bluff and i am now getting disconnected on Oct 8.

I havn't told the wife and kids yet.

has anyone noticed an increase in their sky subscription?

I noticed that mine has gone up from 21.xx- 25.xx... cant recall seeing anything that shows me why this would be.

    anyone else had this?
    2007 £1749
    2008 £291.99
    2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.99
  • it was mentioned in the sky magazine about the subscription going up , the real reason is sky broadband is losing money so the subs have gone up to help fund sky broadband
  • I had a letter saying it was going up

any tips on upgrading from ye olde sky box to flashy sky+ box for free?
I tried ringing them the other day, and after asking how much it was (£150)and doing a bit of moaning - he suddenly started talking to me about sky sports :rolleyes2 it would appear they have selective hearing! me + sports = WW10 :p
Anyway I digress as Im quite cross as I saw an offer in Derby Westfield today for a free sky+ box, what about the loyalty of existing customers...
  • Re price rises the cost went up on the 1st Sept, it was on a letter included with the sky mag, I used to throw them away without reading them but learned my lesson on that one
