  • The broadband issue is annoying , if you look at Skys accounts their broadband side is losing money so all SKY TV customers are subsidising it which is unfair on those who cannot receive it.

  • :money: :jI have been wanting to get a sky+ box for a long time(have been with sky for 8 years), but when i have enquired at sky they have quoted me just under £200 for supply & fit. if i wanted their broadband package and phone package i could have it for £75 + fitting.(i am happy with my phone/broadband providers) so i followed the advice in the forums and spoke to a very nice lady in the disconection dept. who was very helpfull and offered me Sky+ for under £50 all in. saving me a whopping £150+. granted i was on the phone for well over an hour getting past from one customer service advisor to another & being put on hold for a life time but it paid off.
    thanks for the Advice.:T :money:

What phone number are you using is it A freephone number?
  • We got rid of sky and bought a freeview digital recorder for £50 from ASDA (it's like SKY+ but just with freeview channels)

Now we use Blockbuster vouchers (12 rentals for £11.75 worth of Tesco vouchers) to rent all the tv series we don't get anymore - Lost, Prison Break etc.. we have to wait a bit longer for them to come out on dvd but we've saved loads of cash!

It doesn't solve the problem if you like your sport, but we're sorted for everything else and we don't have to pay any monthly fees at all.

    Hi Stevie,

If you ask to cancel and transfer to free sat... they will also try and save you with their best offers:j

What does free sat mean, I envisaged cancelling the subscription and just being left with the hardware that provides the freeview channels, does it not work like that? do you have to ask Sky to provide free sat?

    Thanks

Update - I was on a 3 month free offer (for new subscribers with £50 M&S vouchers) due to expire in 5 days. I rang yesterday to cancel and was told that their records showed that it was a 4 month offer so I have another free month left. It definitely was 3 months as I still have the paperwork. Don't know if this is a mistake or a way of keeping me for another month as they still haven't managed to make a penny out of me. Told to call back in a month if I still want to cancel (I will!) but it will be interesting to see if I'm offered anything else. Would love Sky+ but unwilling to pay a lot for it.

Might seem an obvious question but is everyone aware that after these magical 3 months that their packages will cost more than they did before if you have had something added?

The secret is to cancel in plenty of time.
