Sky subscription "credit crunch" offer

Can anyone suggest how I can persuade Sky to talk to me at all. I have been paying for a variety subscription for six months but I am not able to access any of the channels included in the list they gave me - only the free channels which I can get on Freeview, anyway. I have reported this several times and finally decided to cancel my subscription as nothing was done. They simply ignore me. I tried phoning but it ran my mobile out of money (my home phone is programmed not to call special rate numbers) and they are now saying that it takes eleven days to answer emails. I have given them my home phone number but I can't get a response at all. Help!

Wendy, are you saying that yo have never received these channels although you have been paying for them for the past 6 months?!?!
Have a look at saynoto0870.com, you can find the geographical phone numbers for sky there (i.e. 01506 number).
If not I would speak to them/send a snotty email and say if they don't sort it within a couple of days you will be stopping the DD (if you pay that way) Or Just go through to the cancellation dept and speak to them, I am sure that they will sort it and you should get offered some form of compensation!

I think they are being bombarded with people doing the same things now....
Just called to cancel 2 mixes and asked if they had any other deals - the guy said nothing available to me unless i'm prepared to change my phone provider and BB provider - I'm on a 12 month contract with BT - taken out in April and also 12 month BB with O2 so this wouldn't be possible.
I dropped 2 packages - Kids and Knowledge like Diamond159 they knocked £2 per month off.....
Oh well, I suppose it's better than nothing especially if we don;t watch those channelsIt's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -

TV license is sooo expensive. Again though sky+ means that you don't have to watch them mostly anyway.
Yes, but it COSTS the BBC money to make their adverts. Whereas on other channels, they GAIN money by having adverts.
I honestly dont know why people (in general, I have friends like it) cannot seem to grasp that concept.
Personally, I adore the BBC. I far prefer their News. Sky is too much like an American News channel. ITV is far too "unprofessional" for my liking (personal taste obviosuly factors heavily) and Ive never bothered much with Channel 4 or 5 for the News, as I just check the BBC :P
Not to mention it always had Neighbours. Im quite annoyed at the adverts now it on Five. Having watched it since I was little, it seems so odd! Although recorindg and fastforwarding (with Sky+ or anyone else that does it) is brilliant
I must agree though that its a bit annoying that we should pay for a TV liscence AND the amount we do to Sky/Virgin etc. I think there should be an agreement between them, so that if we have a subscription somewhere else, then liscense is reduced slightly. They could then gain some money back from the companies they're associated with in this offer. More people would sign up to these companies, which means more money. BBC would gain more from it in the long run too - and we'd all pay a little less each month (although probably more in the long run! haha) so we'd be happier :P
*shrug* Just my opinion though.0 -
Didn't take it btw. I need to get my husband to phone and cancel the sports channels as Sky won't let me do it. They let me upgrade the package though! Just can't get hubby to phone though. He only ordered it to watch Scotland play Italy last year or earlier this year. That was a dear football match.
If you know all of the account info, than just get your son - or any other male you know - to phone them and deal with it. My Mum has had to do this before. She knows all of the info, has dealt with them, got all the way through until the "you're not Mr. ... are you?" part, at which point they refused to speak with her.
She had my brother phone them, was feeding him the answers he needed and it all went fine.
Its obviously for security risks (although the fact they let you upgrade shows they dont really care, as long as they're getting their money, but its still written in as security risks) but if you have another male phone in and he has all the answers required, there is no way for them to know any different. If they refuse service (which they shouldnt) then threaten to cancel instead, for not allowing "the account holder" to have access to their own account and change it. (They would have to prove the person phoning wasnt your husband)0 -
I currently have Sky+ and my box has about had it. Phoned Sky yesterday to get a replacement hoping that as a loyal customer they would offer me a box half price like they do with new customers but no. Best offer was buying it online, £99 plus £60 installation fee. Total rip off.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a new box at a reasonable rate?
eBay? We got ours for about £25Quidco Earnings (since Dec 06): £467.750 -

You'll need another LNB cable running from your dish to your box.0 -
