  • :o I posted earlier about October having to be a no spend month.

And all the things that need doing in the house.

And I haven't even listed everything...

And I have just this minute realised that for once little bear is short of clothes! You see, when I was expecting dear heart worked with a lady who lived to shop. You should have seen the clothes we got. We paid one amount and, well, four well stuffed bin bags full of tiny baby clothes is a LOT. Then I have a very naughty habit of going on to ebay and looking at bundles of baby clothes and the best bargain I got there was a HUGE box crammed full for £10.01 (and the postage was £9.34!). In moments of weakness I have bought huge bundles of clothes for him and never had to worry about what he is going to wear. But I have started to break that habit, and besides little bear is getting a little big for the really big boxes of stuff so he is actually running out of clothes that fit him, and (as I am sitting here with a sweater on) I don't think there is much that is suitable for autumn. I suspect the extra large duffle coat he more or less sat in last winter will be fine for a few months more, but I think I am actually going to have to seek out clothes.

I think I shall start with charity shops, but my experience of looking for baby clothes there has not been impressive - there is usually one pink baby grow at the back of the store and a bib. Then I shall progress to Tescos as I have been very impressed - particularly with their sizing. Their clothes are designed for little ones to grow into!

Joannasmum - I hope your little one can learn to perhaps like the milk, though the warm and 'turning' milk that was served up at my school put me off drinking milk 'neat' for years! Of course, that was a long time ago, before they invented refrigeration and hygiene ;) At least in the school I attended.

I'm laughing at the dogs who used to commandeer my old sofa, they are currently lying on the floor sulking, I don't think they like the leather:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Just had a spurt of energy and slung a lentil curry in the slow cooker, it'll do tonight or I can freeze it :)
DD's been to the docs for a sick note and he's given her gaviscon for her morning sickness, and her BP is normal[strike]unlike mine!![/strike]
Have just ordered Dad a jigsaw roll off ebay, as he's enjoying jigsaws at the mo cos he's stuck in so much:o
It's raining again here and the washing's still on the line, oh well:rolleyes:

Thank you Redruby! Hope you are starting to feel a bit better now! Nasi Goreng is basically a slightly spicy fried rice, it is a Singaporean dish and I almost lived on it when we lived out there for a couple of years, when I was a child.
The rice has fish, prawns, pork or ham, peas, garlic, spices fried in with an egg omelette on the top. It is also a great way to use up the leftovers. I will try to find the recipe I use (in the good housekeeping book 1970's era) once all the excitement is over, promise!

Welcome Lilycharlotte - hope things go well on the job front for your oh and that he gets paid by his step father!

Dropped ds off to have his hair done, and the clever lad picked up a padlock for dd1, she'll need it for her locker at school tomorrow, well done him remembering and doing something about it! Think my rant yesterday has done the world of good!

Picked blackberries with dd2, not many ripe ones really and what there was wasn't huge! Ah well, will have to walk a bit further, but at risk of moaning now I still ache, perhaps it's just as well there weren't any juicy ones high up else I would have been tempted to reach up for them.

Made pizza in the remoska, was gonna be a lunchbox snack for the kids tomorrow, but we've eaten it for lunch.

oh has just managed to poke his finger through the ceiling where we've had a leak, told him not to touch it, but did he listen! Will have to get ceiling skimmed now as soon as it dries out, couldn't believe he did it, got neighbour coming round tonight to mend the leak, if it's not one thing it's another! Still it's taken his mind off flapping about the lack of water at the mo!

  • I am not doing very well at all today.

As I have been somewhat under stress, I have been buying wool, or yarn as I would hate to see a sheep that produced some of the eyelash stuff I have in heaps. I thought it would be nice to knit a sweater for a goth friend and there was an offer on. When the wool and pattern came there was just nowhere near enough wool for the bust on my (quite slim) friend. I tried matching the wool, without success and the purple that had been promised was a decidedly girly pink.

So I ordered a special offer wrap kit, £8.99 all I needed to knit a lacy wrap. :o It came today. Unfortunately just because the illustration is black wool does not mean that the wool that comes is black. So I have a lovely wrap to knit, and I have no idea who would wear it in palest pearl grey. I will try ebaying once it has been knit up but I may not be able to recoup my cost, and I still don't know what to do for my lovely friend.

(She is on a diet and I loathe buying presents that need dusting. It may be time to look at bargain books!)

Candygirl - don't pets have their little ways. Evil cat is sulking because she insisted on going out - just as it started lashing down. What a shame.

  • And now the washer is making extremely odd noises!

We always buy huge bundles from ebay for our DD. We sell the last bundle (or usually the one before) to fund the next one! We always get back what we paid for it and sometimes more. She is small, 22 months old but still in 9-12 months clothing. SO all her summer clothes still fit her BUT are not suitable for winter! I will, however, save the summer things to sell on ebay next summer :D

We are lucky as the charity shops in our town are amazing and I always find really nice good quality clothing for her.

The best supermarket clothes for children are, IMO, Asda :D and I am pleased we have just discovered one not far from us!!

Good luck with your clothing hunt!!

  • Hi all

I would do a link to my chutney recipe but I have no idea how to do it, and I don't want to copy paste it again cos I am sure people are bored of reading it!! Catznine, if you would like it, just pm me! (Waves at Kaat - thank you for the mention honey!)

I have a headache today. Plus yesterday my ear was itching inside (how does that happen) and I think I poked it too hard with a cotten bud cos now my whole ear feels odd. I am prone to ear infections so I am worried now it might be the start of another one and the pain is always so horrible.

I did skim the thread, but like wannabesybil, the minute I sat down I forgot it all. So I send *hugs* to everyone who needs them and Congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today.
