Old Style 3 September

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning - looks like there's no-one around  I'm off to w*** soon, and may cycle - the weather looks good :j

Old Style jobs for today:
  • Finish the damson jam
  • Clean kitchen floor
  • Make supper - courgette and coconut curry
  • ice cake
Have a great day, Penny. x

Good morning PenPen and all who follow.

Looks quite good here weatherwise so I hope I can get the washing on the line.

DH has decided to take the day off to get some quotes done so that has thrown my day out a bit! I was going to change the sheets and get the bedrooms done as soon as he left for work - I don't think he'll be best pleased if I turf him out of bed right now! I shall have to leave all that until tomorrow. He is having to work the weekend, though, to meet a deadline, so I suppose that gives me some spare time then.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward (so sorry to hear about your DH's potential redundancy - that's the last thing you need right now), Essex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad, Beth and her DBs and RedRuby.

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, I think I'll do the ironing today and catch up on some paperwork. I intend to stay in today so that will give me a NSD. If I need anything, DH can get it when he's out and about later.

I have lamb neck fillet for dinner that I shall make a kind of hotpot with in the Remoska - the last time I did the fillet, it was gorgeous. I'm finding the Remoska is great for the cheaper cuts of meat, much better than being cooked in the main oven.

Well, I'm off to have my shower so I'll see you all later. Hope you all have a good day.

Morning penny and all who follow

i am feeling horrible, got the cold and cant sleep either, ds1/ds2 had the cubs last night and were doing some cooking, so they enjoyed that, thanks for all the birthday wishes for ds2 yesterday, his granny was meant to come up but she didnt turn up and no phone call either, nothing new there then:mad:

ds1 wasnt too great last night, according to dh he hardly slept and ds1 said they were given sugary juice at cubs last night, so his blood was roaring high, will have to query this with them as thats not on, they know he has diabetes!

not going to bother saying what i am doing today, as doubt it will be much:rotfl: feeling sick and had to take some solphadeine as thats all that works for me, only prob is that its got caffeine in it, and i dont have anything at all with caffeine in it, took it 2 days ago and got very dizzy with it, so i'll probably get dizzy again later on!

    hugs

Need to make DD's packed lunch (mine and DH's lunch is leftover Ranchero Pie).

Going to jump in the shower in a minute, and put my war paint on - think I'll need it today!! Having had 2 days off I now need to perform a miracle and do 3 days work in 1

Tea tonight will be Summer in Winter Chicken with broccoli and mash.

Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))

    Morning Pen-Pen, Moiliere and everyone else who crosses/follows;

Today I am mountaineering, firstly the ironing, and secondly the paperwork. Trying to catch up with the scanning of all things which arrived when I was away last time, before I go again IYSWIM. Also still have a couple of loads of washing to put on, then will be up to date, for an hour or so. DH should be back at the decorating again today, he is not very enthusiastic to say the least:rolleyes: . Waiting in for a phone swop for DS, an insurance exchange, of course no time given.

    ((((hugs)))) to all

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Good morning everyone

I won't do a N9eav and keep a running count of all my sleepless nights (OK he was counting rainy days but YKWIM) but I had yet another one last night and feel worn out before the day has even started. :( I have a headache too, which isn't surprising so I'll join you, princess pixiedust in taking some painkillers. Hope you feel better soon. ((hugs))

(((hugs))) too to all who need them.

DS and DD go back to school today. DS threw a mini-tantrum yesterday when I insisted that he tries his new M&S school trousers on. Just as well I did as he said they were too tight across the thighs. Luckily, I had a pair of George trousers stored away and they were just right so I have avoided a drama today. :T

Back to w**k for me today after 11 days off. :( I know it's going to be a long one - made longer by this bloomin headache. Still, it's a short week so I can't really complain.

Didn't use the Remoska last night as DS and DD were stuffed from lunch and just had a snack. Will use it tonight though.

OS jobs for today are to get the washing up to date, tidy the kitchen and make a card for my DNiece who has just got her first flat.

Have a wonderful Wednesday and good luck to all those returning to school today. xx

  • Morning all,

wide awake at 5.45 this morning, but tried to go back to sleep - which didn't work, so up & made tea now. Thought it was nice out but then it rained & now it's stopped again.... gonna be one of those sorts of days!!

Going across to Uni to meet a couple of mates there this morning to look at some dissertations (and have coffee & gossip of course!) then home this afternoon to make sure everyone is sorted for school tomorrow :) I think banana bread will be made too...

Mioliere - how annoying of your OH, lol!!! Disrupting your plans ;) (It must be the same feeling as when the kids are all home on the holidays, hovering about when you want to get on with stuff!) But a peaceful weekend sounds like something to look forward to.
Pixie, hope you feel better later on, try & sit with your feet up (easier said than done I know!). And definitely have a word with cubs, that's naughty of them if they know he's diabetic.
SOMO1, what is 'summer in winter chicken'??? Sounds intriguing....
Jayward, fingers crossed your OH's job turns out to be ok.
AnnieBL, hope you feel better too & your day at work goes quickly :)

    ((((((((((hugs))))))))) for everyone needing them.
More tea for me I think..

    Morning :hello:

    Redruby, how ya doin'? hug.gif

We picked the new greenhouse up last night, couldn't go on monday because of the rain  I need to move our other greenhouse to fit it in, and I can't do that yet cos toms and cucs are still growing in it. So I have a pile of aluminium on the patio :D

It's been a mad few days so I've decided to stay in today and just potter. Bit of ironing, bit of washing, clean out the animals then sit in front of the tele with craft stuff and make cards - I need to catch up with CSI Miami and Ghost Whisperer :D

Of to work in a moment, well, we had our State of the Nation talk from our new head, if he has the balls to follow through on his promises he'll be great. Everyone received a serious kick up the bum, which was needed, OFSTED is due imminently & they will put us in special measures unless we can prove we are aware of our faults & trying to correct them. Interesting times ahead I think.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Slept slightly better last night - still not brilliant though. Don't know what's causing it - it's just like a light comes on in my head when I close my eyes!

Anyway - work again today - a second INSET day then if we have referrals they'll be divided up today and we'll be sent off to investigate them tomorrow.

Lyndseyann - I just caught up on yesterday's thread - that's awful! Can you appeal??????

The ironing may get done this evening, but nothing certain! LOL!

Better get myself showered! Hugs all round.
