It's manic at work & my intray was fuller when I left than it was when I arrived. Still it keeps me busy which is good, I hate to be bored.
Things at work are very entertaining, the new head seems to be following through with all his threats & promises, so all bodes well.
    Have a good evening.
    Hugs Hester

    Evening all

Big hugs to all the mums who's little 'uns went off for their first day today. One of the teacher's at the prison where I work left her 11 month old at nursery today for the first time too. She left him crying and she was a bit tearful too. When she mentioned it I thought of all the people on here too. My little DGD starts school for the first time on Monday, DS is taking the day off work so they can take her and bring her home together. Time goes by so quickly doesnt it!!

Work today, boooo, prison is expanding so they have moved the entrance and turned it into an electronic type one. It's miles away from the building I work in, so have to walk 3 times further to get out of the place, don't want to be there for a second more than is needed, so this is rubbing salt into the wound ;) Oh well maybe it will make me fitter (yea, right )

Looking forward to watching Esther Rantzen on Who Do You Think You Are tonight, Gerry Springer's story last week was soooooooo sad, hope this one isn't going to be as tearful

I LOVE MARTIN :money: Already booked the Saturday night in a hotel in Manchester for December as going to Old Trafford to watch a match for my birthday treat. After seeing his e-mail about Travelodge bargains, have booked the Friday night in a Travelodge for £9!!!!!!!!!!!!! This one is 0.5 miles from The Trafford Centre so feel a bit of birthday retail therapy coming on too Brill, eh???

    Have a good night all
  • I suspect the extra large duffle coat he more or less sat in last winter will be fine for a few months more, .

Does he wear a red hat and eat marmalade sandwiches too? :D Hope you remember to take your tablets. ;)

Aussie.... Did you overdo the passion (fruit muffins) on your Anniversary? :p Hope DGS is recovering well.

Glad the hospital Appt went ok LW.

    Welcome Lilycharlotte. :hello:

Have just sat down for half an hour before I tackle the kitchen floor. MIL and FIL here today so have just finished our quick tea. They were late so I spent the time making more muffins and soup. :D Experimented a bit with the muffin flavours and now have lemon and poppy seed, date and orange and apple and cinnamon in the freezer. Also made leek and spud soup with some leeks I got for 10p last night along with a bag of spuds for 10p and a carton of cream for...........10p :D

Spent the afternoon playing the "putting the washing on the line between showers" game. Such fun. Had a good whinge on the phone to Pink about the weather. We are planning to run a way to sunnier climes.

    Have a good evening all

I'm so pleased for you both, Beemuzed.

Just had a lovely lamb hotpot made in the Remoska with some neck fillet - the lamb was so tender. DH has requested the leftovers with chips on Friday night! We also had freshly-picked plum and blackberry crumble. A delicious meal all round which cost next to nothing and with enough leftover for another meal. Now that's what I call OS!

I have been typing up tenders all afternoon but have managed to get them all done so DH can go back to work happy tomorrow.

Hope all the poorly ones are feeling much better and that all the LOs enjoyed school. My DGD shed a few tears this morning, apparently, going back as a year 1 after reception class last year. I'm going to phone DIL later tonight to find out if the day got better for her.

I also managed to get the ironing done today so that frees up tomorrow to change the sheets and clean the house right through and, hopefully, get a proper meal plan done.

Will catch up with you all later. Have a good evening.

Evening all, and welcome LilyCharlotte

Well, my Avon boss didn't end up coming over, she ended up taking me out for a pub lunch instead! She is also going to come out with me on Friday and help me to try and get some more customers. I don't think I'm ever going to make 'real' money from it, but every penny counts, and anyway, it's nice to be able to have the odd treat for myself from the book (strictly for research purposes, of course ;))

Also my friend is coming over tomorrow to learn the dark art of old-style housekeeping. She doesn't have t'internet but because I'm always raving about it she's coming over to pick up some tips.

Chrisca, if you fancy a little culture you are also dead close to the Lowry centre. I loved it!

Anyway, I'm off to make sticky lemon pepper chicken for tea. Hope everyone's having a good evening :)

Welcome to LilyCharlotte - and nice to see sammyjig posting. Glad you got so organised over the summer! I certainly did better than usual. However, back to school, so disorganisation looms methinks!
Great to see all the children back today - they all seem to have shot up since last term.
Hester - hope you don't have the threat of Ofsted hanging over your heads too long - we had to maintain a state of readiness for over two years!
Oh how lovely to know that's one visitor that I won't be seeing any more! (Well surely they won't return within a term, will they!) The next Head can do the "OK, that was Good, now for Outstanding!" bit!
Managed to get all the bedding dry today, and did quickly sort out the bathroom this morning. DH cooked liver and bacon for supper which was lovely.
Hope today's been good for you all. ((HUGS)) to all feeling under the weather in any way.
