Does anyone buy frozen mince...

I know people who buy it for their animals, I couldn't eat it either.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

I buy Tesco value mince, last year I had £20 to feed 3 of us for a week, me, hubby & stepson aged 20. Breakfast, packup & evening meal, I'll eat veggi, but the other 2 won't

I have bought it in the past but when it shrinks through loss of water/fat in cooking it just HAS to be padded out with extra veggies or pulses (or both!). Back when my ex-OH wasn't working and my kids were quite young, I wasn't in a position to be over-fussy about what meat we bought - just had to make do with what I could afford.
I thank the Lord that those days are behind me now, but know that if I were to find myself in a similar position nowadays, at least I wouldn't have to worry about feeding children as well as myself - they're all grownup now.0 -

I bought some about 2 weeks ago just to try. It was awful and turned to mush. I have bought fresh value mince before, that's ok.:)Do more of what makes you happy:)0

Hi kittykate,
I've never tried it, but there are some opinions about frozen value mince on this older thread:

i have bought it but its false economy - even when very hard up i bought better mince cos it was less fatty and didn't shrink to nothing'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

I haven't bought it myself but a friend of mine asked me to sample something she was making with it and the dish just tasted so fatty  . I don't remember what it was she was cooking, but she just threw the frozen mince in with everything, she didn't "dry" fry it first or anything (allowing fat to be drained off).
Perhaps its a matter of taste, where I cut every morsel of fat off, she leaves it on to "give food flavour". Sorry it doesn't work for me.:wave:0 -
Just out of interest, how cheap was it?
I bought some lovely mince from the butchers (beef!) for £1.12 a lb on Friday. Put 10lbs in the freezer. It will make at least 15-20 meals for 4 people (so about 60-80 single portions) depending on what I do with it, and I thought it was a good buy.
That's why I'm keen to know how cheap is cheap.0
