One last tip. Don't sign up for Direct Debit to pay your bill.
It gives free licence for companies to raid your account as and when they like.

The direct debit guarantee protects you against this. Any problems you need to speak to your bank and they can help you.
  • ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Direct Debits are a pain when mistakes are made as someone still has to rectify the mistake, and often its a while after the event and then problems become compounded.

    Each to his/hers own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I too am having problems with Scottish Power. They must be the worst energy supplier I have dealt with so far. See my post under Scottish Power on-line accounts

I applied to SP through uswitch, had an e-mail on 5 April saying it would take up to 45 days to complete the switch. SP to contacted me on 2 June, they said it would take another 6-8 weeks to change. I will e-mail them to say they have 1 week to sort this out, or I'll cancel >:(

Having had loads of problems with these guys, I've just received my first bill (joined them mid. January). Must admit, even though they've credited my account with £20 due to having caused so many problems, I'm very pleasantly surprised at the amount I'm in credit.

I suppose you have to weigh everything up though ... is it really worth all the hastle of dealing with them, even though they appear to be a lot cheaper than other companies I've been with in the past. ???

Scotish power, Atlantic, Telecom Plus, reading through the sites these companies appear to had not listened to their customers for over the past year and a half , may be its time to boycott them in mass until they treat us fairly.
Rememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Mmmm, but what happens when we find all these smaller "alternative" companies are maybe just as bad. ???

I've just received a letter from SP, asking for my meter readings as they will be my suppliers from 7 July.
So if they're dragging their feet, e-mail them and tell them you're not happy, they soon speed up ;D

I work in the industry (neither SP nor BG). Scottish are by far the cheapest at the moment and customer service record isn't too bad either. My advice would be: Avoid British Gas at all costs. I'd switch to SP if I were you.

Ive recently employed a guy who used to do the door to door energy thing

he's worked for lots of firms and he basically told me you cant get cheaper than SP

basically - the info they give you at the door is all bull to make you change-

I jsut wish it was easier to know who is the cheapest!!
