Two hours later and i still cant get through.  I see what you mean about only getting the answerphone.  Except that this isnt an answerphone as such, as you cant leave a message before you get chucked off the system and told to ring back.

My phone bill is going to be as big as my electricity bill at this rate.  Do you think i ought to email them a link to this thread?  More importantly, do you think it would make a difference? >:(
Perhaps you should e-mail them the thread. I will too if you like, the more people that do, the more they'll have to listen. Should we ask Martin or the Mods if it's OK first?

    Yep Troo

Good idea. You could email a link to the thread rather than the whole lot? They might get somewhat upset if you mailed them that lot!

I am not happy. I've just received an e-mail saying they want £76 per month. That's £8 more than I was paying Powergen >:(

Can i suggest if you have problems with Scottish Power you use the freephone number 0800 400 200. I got more response with that number than any of the other numbers and i only got chucked off the system twice. >:(

Finally got someone who knew what they were talking about, recons there was a problem with the setting up of something or other but recons he has fixed it now, so in theory i should be able to get online within 10 mins (fingers crossed). He was also able to confirm my start date, meter readings that i sent them and payments i have made to them (£250). I havent argued with the gas account, i am afraid to. ;D ;D

  • ??? ??? ??? ???

I changed to SP last February.
Received 1 small bill in June which is way off the mark (too low) and have tried to (3 times) register for an online account.
Every time I try this they say they will contact me.
    Nuffin to date.
What a terrific way to run a business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I signed up with SP after visiting USWITCH.com. However, when i got the tarrifs from SP they were not as quoted on the web site (naturally they were higher! :o). Therefore i cancelled - this within days. However, despite my repeated efforts to cancel the switch, the process was unstoppable - at least for the electric. I told SP that i would not pay them for any electricity consumed as i had no contract with them - they told me that my previous supplier (SWALEC) would take me back when the transfer failed.

This was some months age. My DD with SWALEC stopped. Now nobody charges me for electricity at all - neither SP or SWALEC (swalec may even be another SP name - or do they belong to SSE?) Anyway i'm currently happy with my "free" electricity. i'm looking forward to having an eventual row with SP - the **** will no doubt hit the fan eventually - but the thing that pains me most is that my wife holds SP shares, so from that point of view i'm appalled at their administration and treatment of customers - which from my experience is very poor.

Does this qualify as a monet saving tip? - switch to SP, cancel a week after signing up and get free electricity for life!!!!!! ;)

Graham, been there done that, got a huge bill for £167 for three months usage. Since that, they have had £80 in Direct Debits and since November they want an additional £200 on top. Thats just for electricity!!!

When i was paying it was only £23 per month for my well insulated house and that was just about right. I would hate to have bills like yours - are they justified by the consumption? If so you have little to complain about!

I managed to get through to them yesterday. Suprisingly i got through on a freephone number, when the 0845 numbers i had been trying for days just got me nowhere. Well i have managed to get my start readings from them and a list of the money i have paid them. Now i need to work out myself what i owe. Well, that bit i am passing to my husband, figures were never my strong point and he did O level maths. ;)
