Does anyone have a nice recipe for coffee and walnut cake that they've tried and tested as I always order this in tearooms and have some left-over walnuts to use up? I really like the coffee icing that they use too

Oooh my favourite too - with coffee buttercream icing in the middle mmmm

the mums WHO BRING A DUMMY TO STICK IN THE MOUTH OF 4&5 year olds) (nothing against dummies DD had one - wish DS had then he wouldn't have thumb sucked!) who hand over sweeties...who allow their kids to interrupt adult converations and behave like brats without remonstration....I'm with Pigpen on this one - and then Pigpen's kids are praised for good behaviour or it's commented on to Mr and Mrs Pigpen. THEY BEHAVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN PROPERLY BROUGHT UP - so it's hardly surprising.

Thank you for the compliment.. and I take a dummy for Tiddles (she is 4 in November.. She doesn't get it stuffed in unless ahe actually asks for it though... She is not lalowed to take it to nursery with her any more though.. it has to stay at home or go in my pocket. She asks for it less knowing she can have it if she wants it rather than asking for it constantly because we won't let her have it.

As for thumb sucking.. my sisters are 25 and 21 and my friend is 33 and all 3 still suck their thumbs!! 2 of mine started at thumb suckers.. and were thrust a dummy immediately... oddly the oldest and the youngest!

Just eaten 4 small slices of homemade (OH made it last night from Lidl bread mix) sunflower seed bread, hot-buttered, and now feel a bit _pale_ It tasted nice, but now I'm really bloated! That'll teach me to eat lots of bread! Stoopid IBS! Seriously though, I'm going to have to stop making biscuits and cakes so often, or at least not eat so many of them, cos I'm starting to find squeezing into my jeans very tricky. May need to do some situps.gifwhen I've digested it all. I wish I could afford to go back to the gym - I got down to a size 8 when I went before, and had so much more energy - my favourite class was the body balance class (tai chi, pilates and yoga all in one), as it was pure me-time.

Maybe I could make the coffee and walnut cake mix, and make them into fairy cakes instead, that way I can just have one with a cup of tea, instead of 1/8 of a cake at a time.

I'd just like to add, that a size 8 was perfectly healthy for me, cos I'm only 5ft6 and am currently a size 10-12 (closer to the 12 now cos I've now got a big bum and hips). Will have to do something, cos we go on holiday in November, and I won't fit into my summer clothes if I don't. Maybe I should look up low-fat coffee and walnut cake online.

    Caught up... *wave to everyone*

I decided I am having a day off today.. I also got a text saying my new sofa will be delivered on MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!! WWOOHOOOO!!!!!!

I've scarfed a box of chocoalte fingers.. perfect brekkie food!

hubby just bought a box of teabags with a little stuffed Horton and DD5 is absolutely delighted with it.. the things they get attached to!

I need to buy a black curtain pole now.. we decided a brown wooden one was not suitable so I need to go shopping! *sigh* Such an exciting life I lead.

We are also unsure about the loft conversion as well now.. it will cost about £25k which we don't have and if DS1 moves out DD2 can go in his room and the 3 littlies can stay where they are in the massive room so we wouldn't need more space.. The hall, stairs and landing are next on the agenda though.

Jobs for today.. catching up on the laundry!!!!!!!

  • Phew! Never knew I could pack so much into 40 miuntes! hoovered through the 2 bed bungalow, S & S the kitchen - washed up from last night/breakfast, polished the surfaces (grantite!) and taps, wiped th eskirtings, moved the chairs and sofas and hoovered under, made a passing glance at the dusting - mum's got so many knick knacks I couldn't do it all! Then S & S the bathroom!

Now I need to do mine! but as I want to bake this afternoon I guess the kitchen can wait and the downstairs loo is still ok. Hoovered thorugh yesterday too.

Just finishing a cuppa and a twink hob nob ( my last so shall have to do some more today!!) then I'll set to (maybe...but that magazine is looking very inviting.....
