Diamondresorts can be found here 1.... http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/3937/diamondresorts.jpg
Thanks for that Mr dacouch. But I was hoping that the newbie Diamond_resorts would have replied, as after all, we want to help all newbies out . All to often on this sort of thread we want unbiased information about super money-saving ideas, but all we get is newbies extolling the virtues. Makes one think, does it not ?
I hope he replies as with his username he is connected with this concern and can answer the comments made.
But I fear that you are correct and the whole thing is just rather tasty tinned meat for a very improper organisation.

Well I booked my dates for the high season in Hawaii. I have 'the sampler,' which is their discounted price for a one time trip where DRI will try to convert us and make up become full members. Not looking forward to another hard sell, but at the same time this time I am going to speak up and explain exactly why they are full of crap and how it is better for me to plan out each trip myself.
The phone number for the sampler is different than their main reservation line and I can't log into the website to check out dates for other locations to see if certain locations/dates would be available myself.0 -
I would definitely advise anyone considering taking up one of these offers to stay away from these companies, it's not worth the free holiday. My in-laws bought into one of these timeshares...sorry, I mean Holiday Club memberships. They fell victim to Suntera's, now called Diamond Resorts, hard sell back in 2002 when they went on a holiday to Menorca, although it wasn't one of these freebie holidays.
They initially paid about £6000 for the priviledge of owning one of these timeshares, and then had to pay an additional £400 per year maintenance fee on top of that. The membership only included the accommodation, they still had to pay extra for flights, hotel electricity bills (where applicable), guided tours, spending money etc. They also had problems trying to book the hotels they wanted, always being told they either didn't have enough points or that it was full.
When they told us that they had bought the timeshare we warned them that it was dodgy and a waste of money. We called it a timeshare and they were quick to correct us by saying it was not a timeshare, it was a club membership which is different. They said they could go anywhere in the world, whenever they wanted, and the accomodation is all paid for. Father-in-Law basically reapeated to us everything he was told during the hard sell presentation. They fell for it hook, line, and sinker!
Anyway, they eventually realised what a mistake they had made as it was costing them a fortune and they were only able to afford holidays once every other year. They sold the timeshare towards the end of last year (2008) and have since been on two holidays in the space of six months! However, they still spent about £8000 + on Suntera/Diamond Resorts during their 6 year membership, not including all the additional costs for flights etc. and they only had 3 holidays!0 -
It's wonderful to see a tidal wave of opinion that this is a scam.
It's also useful to see (apart from the one post wonders) roughandready86 ensuring the post remains near the top for all to see.
The only self confessed emloyee comes along with his spelling a 4yr old would be ashamed of and tries in vain to turn the tide of opinion.
It's just a pity people only research after they have fallen victim.0 -
CHR15 = NOT A MEMBER OR EVER HAS BEEN ONE SO YOU CANT SAY NOTHING!!!
Roughanready86 says:
"still holding the point that there 380,000 members and theres only soo
few that have a problem about it".
stll nobody moaning about the accomadation or the customer service.
which leaves a fair point that
what we offer is not a scam.
what we tell you is not a scam.
what we do is not a scam.
and from what i have not disputed from the beginning
the only thing that people are unhappy about is
some peoples membership fees.
so if what we are offering is happening and are getting
dream holidays how can it possibly be a scam.
QUALITY comes at a price.
REMEMBER the majority of people really make
timeshare work for them. So all we ask is have a look
IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT SIGN FOR IT SIMPLES!!!!0 -
dear or dear roughandready, you are wrong, wrong, wrong.
This is not a DRI or Diamond Resorts forum, its a moneysaving forum. Not getting tied into awful contracts which go up in price each year (which you have no control over) is moneysaving.
By your logic, if 380,000 are in favour, there are 6,2Bn not in favour because they haven't bought into it. & we should also all put our hands into fire becaue until you try it you don't know its a bad idea.
& as for your english, I wasn't making fun of your lack of education (though thinking DRI is a good idea is more than evidence enough), its because you use a word with a specific meaning when you actually mean something else. That is deceitful, like the company you work for.
I'm still waiting for you to set out how much you've bought your membership for and how much you will pay to DRI before you die. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings
DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE!0 -
"still holding the point that there 380,000 members and theres only soo

A con or scam often relies on the fact that human nature means the majority of people do not like to admit it when they have been scamed / conned as its embarrasing0 -
roughanready86 wrote: »i know ive been to them and yes i do after pay the management fees at £450 a year for my 8000 points
so people the resorts you have been to have they been a disaster or was they diamond quality ?????
roughanready86
i think you will find mpython that i wrote on page 7 of the forum how many points i currently have and i am unsure yet as to how much more i will spend with them i may just wait untill my membership finshes and then pull out or i may carry on but thaat is totally down to what i choose.0 -
But you haven't told us how many dollars you paid for your "points" (aren't they called points now to get around timeshare laws?) and how many more dollars you will spend on maintainence fees etc etc each year for the life of the contract.
Why won't you tell us?Originally Posted by shortcrust

Yawn.
Another newbie singing the praises of diamond resorts but once again fails to say how much they (or their grandparents in this case) paid for them, or how much their yearly charges have been and will be.
Anyone else think the posting style looks the same as roughandready? maybe DRI's internet connection won't let their stooges post in paragraphs?
& why would anyone sing the praises of a company as a first post? Even my mates who love their motorbikes don't talk in such gushing tones about the chrome & revs of their harleys and hondas.
EDIT & I just noticed they are "named" on the account but allegedly are not a member...........Originally Posted by shortcrust
