redruby - re the hiking boots, have a look at camping shops, or caravan dealers showrooms, they are often selling them off at this time of year, we go to a rally at one in Lincoln each year and usually end up buying boots or walking trainers.
((((hugs))) to the rest of you, must fly as dinner ready to be dished up (by mje!).

Thanks donny will have a look xx0 -

Hi everyone and thanks for all the hugs
I am okay now - went to work and had to sit through all the congrats for the other person getting the job - I sent mine by email, couldn't actually say the words :rotfl:
I'm a nice person really - okay, I'm human
The good news is that this has given me the kick start I needed to move on. Another job where they do appreciation maybe? It's my (OS!) life, time I started living it.
My Dsis did okay in her hospital app today, judging by the tests they have run and shared with us. I really worry about her as she is the only family I have. Okay I have DS, DD1 and DD2 but you know what I mean..
PenPin - Glad you have started a new relationship with your Mum, hopefully it all goes well
Whatatwit - how about apple & blackberry jam? I know where to get some blackberries..
Sausages for tea today - ended up with RTC lamb steaks last night so the sausages needed eating up, mash, onion gravy and broccolli - yum.
I hope everyone is okay and hugs for those that need them0 -
Hi all. PenPin - I'm glad you have made such good progress with your Mum but annoyed that your nurse didn't turn up.
RedRuby - hope your symptoms don't develop into anything.
I'm happy so far with the soapnuts but have yet to try it on a white wash! I will be doing that tomorrow and will report progress. That link to soapnuts on eBay showed one of the suppliers to be a lot cheaper than mine so I shall remember to look on eBay next time I need to order. The 500gm pack I've got should last a long time, though, so I'm not too angry at paying too much.
Well, time for a bath and a sit down.
See you all tomorrow.

Evening all,
Had a good time with my mate in Brighton - we went to Choccywoccydoodah's cafe & I had a lovely strawberry milkshake (made with lots of fresh strawberries) and an ENORMOUS slab of gooey chocolate cake. I feel sick, lol!!! Had to bring half the cake slice home as it is soooo huge. My DD's demolished it. I love Choccywoccydoodah.
Just finished letters for the office & skimmed through the thread, but brain is on shutdown & can't remember anything - apart from PenPin, I'm really glad you & your mum are able to talk & begin to put things right.
Why does it feel like midnight? Think I will be having a very early night. Like in about 5 minutes...

Churchmouse wrote: »Hardup Hester, as soon as I read your post I thought Chondroitin complex. I see mioliere has already mentioned it;) I have arthritis and was taking glucosamine, which helped a bit. For the past year I've taken glucosamine with chondroitin, and the results have been amazing. I'm really cynical and didn't think it would make a difference, but it really has. You should see some results within about 3 weeks.
So would that work on knees that stiifen up & make very odd squeaky squelchy noises when walking up & down stairs, and an achey shoulder from too much mouse-work? I keep looking at cod liver oil but can't bring myself to buy it, never mind take it on a regular basis...and I wasn't sure about glucosamine....? is it a trip to Boots or does Mr T do a pot of this magic potion?
I'm a bit snowed under at work at the mo - my boss's boss's PA is off (sick last week, pre-booked leave this week, not sure next week yet ) so as I've been there longest & know how he likes things done I had to step into the breach...and my boss is trying to give stuff to the other secretary but I've got all her files & most of her stuff is amendments anyway....so I've really been sort of managing both of themHey ho, only tomorrow then am off until Tuesday
Not sure what will happen if other PA doesn't come back....bridges & crossing come to mind - although the extra cash if I'm asked to act-up will be handy!
DF is away again - and not sure if he'll be back in time for rugby tomorrow  He'd better be able to go away on Friday afternoon as this long weekend is our only holiday this year!
Not done very much OS today or yesterday (apart from fridge-contents salad for supper last night & WM this morning)......really need to sort out my wardrobe, especially now the weather is turning chillier, but need DF to be away for a week to sort it all outooh, that reminds me, I was going to put the middling duvet back onto our bed tonight, as I've been waking up cold in the early hours the last few nights - that should guarantee an indian summer
DS2 has called with the results of his mystery "weakness & cough"...recurrence of his childhood asthma, so it looks like he's allergic to LondonThat won't please him, especially as he's got 2 more years at uni down there;)....doc actually reckons it was something in his halls and now the poxy flat they're renting that he's reacting to.....and he told me that he & his 2 flat-mates are looking for somewhere else as the landlady is in deep doo-doo with her mortgage & they aren't sure how long they have before it gets repossessed
Nothing else going on - just been catching up with Celebrity Masterchef (still haven't got to the end, only the finals to go now!) and was laughing at the Chelsea pensioner who was surprised that monkfish was so "solid" - what a nice way to put it!
:grouphug: to all who would like one,
wannabee sybil Take things one step at a time, and as WAT says, soon you will be on & off buses as much as you & Little Bear want - remember, baby steps are better than big strides that wear you out
candygirl Thinking of you & your parents hun xx
PenPin That's good news - am glad you feel a bit easier
Frugalswan Maybe OH's migraines were because he is a bit run down?...especially if you are both upset about the venue....I'm sure somewhere nicer will turn up for you
Redruby If you know the ones you want, have you tried t'internet?
Morwenna Sorry about the job - hope they aren't the blackberries down the back of the DeVere....

Evening all,
Spent most of the early afternoon in house of former neighbour, OH was cutting their lawns and I had to drive behind him on road with flashers on...not meant to take ride on mower on road, so thought that it was safest to do that. The family are obviously devastated but my heart particularly goes out to youngest son (28) who is in Kentucky and won't arrive home until to-morrow morning. Lots of bits and pieces to be done in house so kept occupied while I was there. Day seemed to go by in a flash..DD4 cooked dinner which meant that I have done very little here to-day except 3 loads of washing, they are all on line and I don't care when they dry!
Hugs to all in need or want...PenPin, glad you have had some breakthrough with your mother....onwards and upwards hopefully.
Jaward, your posts seem 'stronger' hope that you feel better.
Have meant to try glucosamine for my dodgy knees...very wary of medication as some things make me retain fluid and the weight is bad enough without that!
No rain to-day but no sun either, grey and overcast all day
Night all

floss2 I would think it would help with your knees:D Mine are much *smoother* and *quieter*:rotfl:
I don't know whether Tescos etc do it. I've always bought mine from Holland and Barrett ( usually when they've had a 70% off sale, I stock up;) ) It's called Extra strength Chondroitin Complex Gels. Capsules the size of horse tablets, but they slip down easily with fruit juice:rotfl: They say the dosage is 3 capsules a day. After the first 3 months I reduced to 2 a day, and am still fine. There was some research I read on the web which said start high and then reduce. But I imagine there will be loads of different ones out there. I read it's the combination of the two substances that helps. I'm sticking with these because they work for me;)You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
