Daily Thread 27th August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 26 August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Good Morning everyone

I seem to have started the thread this morning,, I am awake to the noise of about 100 geese flying by ,,does that mean the summers over or what.
I dont think I am going to stay up this morning ,as I am too tired and have to drive today, so better get a bit more sleep, in a bit .
went to the cinema last night and saw a very good film,, we did not think we would like it but were surprised.
its still a bit dark here so dont know what the weather will be like today hope its another [STRIKE]scorcher[/STRIKE] nice day.
Will have to get the BM on soon as well as we have no bread.. sent DH to get some milk the other day and he came back with whoopsied bread rolls and beef ,, so will not be asking him to go any more.

I may add some more later,, but for now will have to have a coffee

See you soon

Ann xx

Good morning, Kaat_Lady and everyone that follows. I'm waiting for a phone call today to see if there is anything that can be done about our venue problem. I have a sinking feeling there'll be nothing they can do so it's up to us to find another venue, I think. I know it isn't until next year, but as it is on a Saturday in the middle of summer, a lot of places we rang were already booked :( Mr Frugalswan is still suffering and I'm still getting the nervous stomach. We'll see, though. Hopefully I can get over this.

Thank you for the hugs and support yesterday, it was really needed. Off to work in a few minutes (just checking my train is on time) and then off to mum's this evening for a much-needed hug. Finally, food shopping round it all off with, and the sure knowledge that I've overspent on my Grocery Challenge. Let's write this week off, eh?

Hope everyone has a good day, and (((hugs))) to those in need.
Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!

Good morning Kaat and all who follow.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Aussie's DGS, Moneysavingdiva's OH, Essex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad, Beth and her DBs and all who need one.

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, today is paperwork day plus a bit of baking because we've run out of cakes. I'm not going out so it will also be a NSD. I've been up for a couple of hours so have made a start on the paperwork; now that I've started it it won't seem like such a chore.

I can't tell what the weather is going to do because it isn't properly light yet but it does look gloomy again. Will we ever see the sun again?

Dinner tonight is something in the Remoska with sausages - not sure what, yet.

Can't think of anything else at the moment so I will go and load the WM; my order of soapnuts arrived yesterday - I tried a sample first and we were quite impressed. DH couldn't believe how soft the clothes have been. The sample was just a small handful and has done six loads; the new ones are a lot more moist than the sample so I'm expecting miracles. I shall report back. I ordered 500 grams (£6.75) which came in a big drawstring bag with a little one in which you put about eight soapnuts then you put it in the drum with the washing. If each little bagful does six loads then I can see it working out a lot less expensive than detergent and a lot kinder to the environment. When the soapnuts have done their bit, you just throw them on the compost heap. I shall monitor how many washes I get from the bagful.

well, I'd better get going - I want to start my paperwork properly as soon as DH has left for work.

See you all later. Have a great day!

    Hi all

haven't read the thread in a couple of days, so belated birthdays, congrats and hugs to all who need:D

ds1/ds2 were at cubs last night, they had a brilliant time according to them:D first time they have ever been, they did games like dodge ball, some pirate game etc but the main thing is that they loved it, ds2 needs to lose a bit of weight so need to get him to be a bit more active and watch what he eats, so this will help him with that and help him gain more confidence, the thing he is looking forward to is going off on camping trip etc, ds1 was stunned to see the amount of badges one boy had on his uniform:D think there was 8 of them incuding 1 girl.

anyway off shopping today and trying to find somewhere to go for a weekend away, as sh is still moaning at me about a holiday:rolleyes:

    Morning all

Overcast this morning, but the forecast doesn't sound too bad, but work today, so doesn't really matter

Frugal, haven't read your earlier posts, but assume you have a problem with your wedding venue. Our DS gets married in a couple of weeks, and a few weeks ago, they found out they had a problem with their venue, and started frantically phoning around. Anyway, they have ended up with a much nice venue, and did it with a few weeks to spare, so don't despair - something better is round the corner.

Chops for dinner in the Remoska.

Sorry, got to dash, catch you all later x

    Morning all,

Well I got no sewing done after all today. One thing led to another sort of day. Might tackle it shortly. It's come over o'cast in the last hour so we might get a spot of rain tonight. Miracles do happen. :D Haven't heard from XDIL  so I'm hoping no news is good news.

I'm looking after her cat while she's away. :p I go up there every morning to let him out, feed him & then go up in the afternoon to put him back in the house etc. I had to relent today and clean out his disgusting mess. He doesn't use his kitty litter tray for Number 2's but everywhere around it. So I cleaned it all up, washed the floors and put newspaper down. Aired it all out. Hopefully if he does it again it won't be so bad. Disgusting cats. :D Give me a dog any day.

fixielust I was a brownie & girl guide. I got lots of badges on my sleeve. :D Camping was fun. Especially when the scouts would come along. ;)
Moiliere Can't get soapnuts here but I've read about them on a thread on here. They do sound good so let us know how you go.

Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning everyone,

i feel wide awake this morning and full of beans as i had an early night last night and i actually managed to fall asleep straight away and i slept straight through for almost 7 hours  this is the most sleep that i`ve had in about 4 months so no wonder i feel good, hope it lasts all day :D

The weather is dry at the moment - so far so good- i`ve put the wm on before i left this morning so hopefully i can get everything on the line when i get home, a lovely loaf is cooling on the rack on the worktop so DH will probably use half of it for his breakfast  the dw had finished before i left so he can earn his keep by emptying it :D i also patted the remoska on the way out, i intend having a good nosy around for recipes for it today and after rummaging around in the freezer i found some pork steaks so hopefully i can do something with those.

Plans for later when i get home are to do some more gardening, the grass is growing at an alarming rate and i have some plants to repot so hopefully i can get some done, i need to get some compost too but that may have to wait as i think that the local garden centre closes at tea time and i won`t get chance to call any earlier.

When i went into the green house yesterday i founs some tiny tomatoes on my vine plant :j i really didn`t think that there would be any, there have been lots of flowers on it for some time and as it`s the only one of it`s type i went round lots of the flowers with a tiny paintbrush to pollenate them and this is the result, it`s very large and unless you actually lift bits up to have a look it`s hard to believe that it`s only planted in a hanging basket standing on the floor.

I`ve been on here an age now so i really must get on, i`ll pop back later to catch up.
(((HUGS))) for all who need one - help yourselves.
    Have a good day peeps.

    morning.
guess what - its raining :)
yesterday got some gardening done before the rain came on. could have got more done, but a heavy shower had us heading indoors. still what we got weeded made quite a difference. cleared out my bedding plants, what was left of them anyway. they seem to have drowned. :)
    today is pay day ...yeeehhhaaa!
have just done the budget, and moved money round all the accounts. how did we manage before online banking.
have started a list of things we need to buy this month. yesterday the yard brush snapped, but the head was pretty bare anyway, a bit has rusted and snapped off the ironing board so it wobbles alarmingly, and the toaster has given up.....why do things break in groups?
    have a good day.

Well done to Mrs Moneyp's DD
Hugs to frugalswan, I'm sure something wll turn up
Ihope you enjoyed the festival Stef, I thought of you every time I drove past.
To all the blondes on here, remember what Dolly Parton says about people who think she's a dumb blonde, 'I't don't worry me, I know I'm not dumb & I sure as hell ain't really blonde'
I did make a start on the study yesterday & shall finish it today before I go to work at 9.
I've hung washing on the line & we have liver & bacon for tea. I thinking of starting a course of Glucosamine as I have hardly any pain free movement in my shouder, it's been getting steadily worse over the last few months.
Hugs to Jay, PP, Smokey, Candy, Bethbee & anyone else in need.
    Have a good day
    Hugs Hester

    Good Morning All

Frugalswan - everything happens for a reason as CharliesMum said you might end up with something better.

(((hugs))) where needed, Hester - hope you can get something for your shoulder.

No sunshine here at the moment but it is meant to be dry. Off to TaiChi this morning and OH & the kids are taking puppy to the vet for his first injection. Will get some quotes for insuring him later. (Havnt managed to get photo on here yet but they are on my facebook).

Ironing this afternoon, then roast chicken for dinner. Will do in the remoska.

    Have a great day all.
