    Good afternoon!:hello:

May I call cooking a two course lunch for 30 something people from scratch my OS for the day:D Then I can just veg out on here, that sounds much better:cool:

Crumbs, I should jolly well hope so :D

(I was quoting from CM's post but I think something's gone wrong - will find out when I post this! )

Not going to write much today as my fingers keep typing the letters in the wrong order:p , but just wanted to say hello and offer ((((((HUGS)))))) to all on need of some. There seem to be quite a lot atm!

DH has just rung to say he's on his way home. He took DD1 and DSIL down to Westgate-on-Sea to see DSIL's Mum, who has had a "mini-stroke". They know they can't do anything to help, but wanted to reassure themselves that his Mum is okay. We know she's better now, as she rang them herself, within a few minutes of their arrival back at home after our holiday together.

Have done 3 loads of washing today, and hope most of it will get dry on the line - there's no sun, but it's blowy.

Dinner will be nice beefburgers from the butcher, new potatoes, and mange-tout which were on sale in the Greengrocery part of the butcher's yesterday:D I think I'll stir-fry the mange-tout in a little bit of Chinese stir-fry oil.

Ooh, nearly forgot - Thank you Betheebee for suggesting Googling for diabetic recipes. I hadn't thought of that!

    All for now

    Best wishes

  • Afternoon!

Well the flippin nurse didnt come or call and have left a message! Not happy! Luckily it wasnt a pain injection. Will call back again in the morning and have another moan:D

Have just had a heart to heart with my mum about the past and I think we are making progress within our relationship. She apologised for kicking me out when I was 16 and I apologised for blaming her for my shi**y childhood. I feel like a weight has been lifted. It has taken alot to get to this stage as Im now nearly 34 and I NEVER want to be like that with my DD and need to set a good example. It will never be perfect between mum and I but its progress!

We are having prawn curry for dinner and am defrosting the prawns as I type. I have a craving ATM for them:confused:

I have also done a washload today and it is hung upstairs, but I did put the TD on for 20mins...so not very OS im afraid.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the above info with regards to my mum as you've all listened to me moan about her.

    Take Care

Well, the venue didn't get in touch as they said they would, so I'm assuming that's a no go now ... definitely going to ask at loads of different places now and try to find something else. We wanted that one because of the pretty views, but as you say, there have to be others. Thanks for the hugs (((hugs back tight))) - there was one piece of good news today - my dress arrived, and we can go to pick it up anytime (it's just finding the opportunity and time to go to fetch it), but we can combine it with a trip to Ikea to pick up a nice snuggly blanket and cross another item off the winter to-do list.

At mum's at the moment with a nice sweet and sour chicken with noodles for tea. I've been able to eat more today, at least, but it's been a struggle. Mr Frugalswan's migraines have given way to a horrible cold (bless 'im) so here's hoping for an easier time of it soon.

Penny-Pincher, now that you mention it, I do have a bit of a craving for prawns. I'd love to get a recipe for a prawn curry - which one do you normally use?

Glad to hear about the progress with your mum penpin

Good news from folks re glucosamine with chondroitin then. DH's lower back plays up a lot and I expect my dodgy shoulder to kick in again when I start teaching. For me it's the writing on the board and half turning as well. Must kick that habit. Why are all white boards so high anyway? Must have been put up by tall peoplerolleyes.gif. Anyway, I don't know why we haven't tried these tablets before as they have worked wonders for our older dog.
Tea tonight was some cold chicken and toast! I'm off out again so it was quick meal and a quick check in here on my chums smile.gif
Honestly...we do usually eat more healthily

    evening all,

been to the outlet village in Portsmouth, had a nice walk around, no walking boots though, will have to go to a local but expensive shop, I tried a pair on earlier during the week which were soooo comfortable, but expensive, and i thought I might get cheaper elsewhere, think I will have to buy them, a good pair of comfy boots is priceless when walking any distance. I did buy a lovely cardi from monsoon reduced from £65, to £19, and two t-shirts.

I got dd two t shirts and some socks and OH bought us both some walking socks. had a late lunch out so tea will be a help yourself.

Having been mean about OH's cold this morning, I am now suffering myslef with a headache, stiff joints and sore throat, I think thats called 'sods law' .

Hugs to young miss Mix, and stefs jasmin xx

Well dont tell anyone but I am using one of the 6p jars of Basic curry sauce from Sainsburys;) ....the prawns are half price at Sainsburys too ATM. With the curry sauce I dont like the sultanas, so they will be picked out. I also bought a basic stir-fry bag for 45p and cooking that too with a few prawns added but have tossed the prawns in some Madras paste first.

Frugalswan, you may have had a lucky escape with the venue.....if they are unable to do something as simple as return a call to confirm a date...then would you really feel happy trusting them to organise your wedding celebration.
Pen-pin, I've read about the bargain curry sauce, I might try a jar from sainsbugs.

Where has today gone! I have done two more loads of washing, and hung them out so nearly on top again now, but I have the inevitable ironing mountain.

Re the aching joints, when I was found with a torn cartledge last year, the consultant put me on Condrosan 400 (condroitin sulfalo), which I have to take two a day so 800mg. They have worked brilliantly, I am presuming they are chondroitin, they have been produced in a joint venture between Spain and Canada my Googling tells me. If anyone has more Spanish or medical knowledge and can tell me different, then please let me know. They are not cheap in Spain even though most medicines are, they are more expensive than anti-biotics. If I could be sure they are just chondroitin, then I will look out to see if I can get the dose cheaper her.

redruby - re the hiking boots, have a look at camping shops, or caravan dealers showrooms, they are often selling them off at this time of year, we go to a rally at one in Lincoln each year and usually end up buying boots or walking trainers.

((((hugs))) to the rest of you, must fly as dinner ready to be dished up (by mje!).

I would reckon it's chondrotin sulfate; there are various forms and you are likely to have a mixture of sugar chains of different lengths sulfated at different points in your tablets (it would be the *mother* of all hassle to separate them all out!) :o The stuff is a major compenent of cartilidge in natural systems :)

Sometimes what is sold as labelled just as chondriotin is the sulfated form or just is less sulfated than the stuff sold as the sulfate (some other fraction from the isolation prep). Naturally it's very complex mixture anyway, cel x
