ive had mine since they were flogging em for £59 which was a few weeks back.ive just used it to copy some of my vhs tapes and replace the vcr and it has been working fine.when i first got it it did ruin a couple of dvd+rws but seems to have settled down after a bit of use and i have recorded lots of programs using the same dvd+rw lately with no problems.

it looks like its pot luck if you get a good machine or not as other people seem to have been having problems.

pool182,unfortunatly it doesnt have progressive scan so if thats what u need this isnt the machine for you.

  • Just got one of these machines. I had bought the Dual DVD player from Asda (which seems to be a rebrand of the Targa that Lidl were selling for £20 a while back) for £40 as I wanted a divx player but saw this so the Dual is going back. I've tried a few divx's on the Cyberhome and they're all fine but one, but perhaps it's the disc as I haven't yet tried it in the Dual or my pc.

I think the Dual is going back. It read all divx's I threw at it but it makes such a noise and fuss about it. Some of the divx's I tried on the Cyberhome did perhaps seem a bit jerky and juddery though.

I've not had a play with it yet but for £28 more than the Dual it seems alright. Not tuned anything into the analogue tuner as I'm principally going to be using it just to watch dvds/divx's and real-time archive anything worth keeping from my freeview pvr.

There was about another eight or nine units in the Chadderton store if anyone local is looking for one.

Saw something on here, probably on the mobile phones thread, about an O2 offer (phone with Bush dvd player), and someone had put a link into reviews/discussion site about this, it didn't get very good reviews, but I don't know if it's the same one - perhaps someone else can help you, worth checking out the reviews though as they were pretty universally rubbish!

I bought mine when they were £59. I've given up on it and will take it back. The picture quality is worse than a VCR, both on recordings made by the machine and pre-recorded DVDs, with the colour appearing washed out. In view of the fact that there seem to be inconsistencies amongst these machines I might go for a swap rather than a refund and see if I get a good 'un.

  • Picture is good on mine too. Bought mine in November. Everything works ok, it also plays the DivX or avi files I downloaded off the net.

There is one problem with it though. Its clock runs fast!!!
Its sat ontop of the video. So theres two digital clocks displaying the time.
The video clock gets set automatically by some kind of radio signal, but the DVD Recorders clock is set manually via the setup menu.
Every two weeks, the Cyberhome clock is 1 minute ahead. So after a month, the Cyberhome is now 2 minutes ahead and thats when I feel the need to synch it back up with the video. A tad annoying, but for 70 squid - its not bad at all.

have heard that the newer ones manufactured in December 2005 (says it on the serial number sticker) dont play Divx because they different firmware. Can anyone confirm?
