My brother has now bought this from Asda.
I'm hoping he has no problems with it and I have told him to get Tesco own brand discs as they seem to be getting good reviews from some of you.

Tech4, by doing the US site firmware upgrade you turned your recorder into a US one, some Canadians use the German site to be able to record and play PAL DVDs.

    This site makes interesting reading,

I bought one of these, but had to take it back yesterday, we couldnt get it to set up on our tv - i have a sony 32 idtv. The set up screen came up, but we couldnt finish set up with the remote, we tested the battery in the remote and that was fine, but just couldnt get it to work???

anyone else had problems in set up?

I assumed it just happened to be a faulty one and was going to get another one when they get some more stock in, but after reading these reviews maybe i should get a liteon?
  • Doc Martin sound out of sync.

Two people happened to be watching the last episode of Doc Martin on 2 Sony TVs (different models) in this house connected to the same aerial.
The output was about one second out of sync though on both TVs the sound and vision was in sync. This happens with some programmes but not others. The DVD recorder recorded with out of sync sound sometimes when connected to one of the TVs, but never when connected to the other TV. Does that help or deepen the problem?

    hi ya all

what cds do you all use for decording i tried to use cd-rw but wouldnt work

    and suggestions please
  • This has to be the worst piece of kit I have ever bought.

I have returned 2 of these players and am now on my 3rd.

I have yet to record a successful watchable DVD. I have tried 6 different media from unbranded to branded. I have attempted to record 8 dvds. 1 has successfully finalised the rest are now coasters as they show up as disc errors and basically corrupt the disc. The playback quality of the successful dvd is shocking. I will be returning this machine and replacing it.

Never has "you get what you pay for" had a truer meaning for me.
