Well we just got back from Asda with one of these DVD Recorders but the region code hacks appear to be doing nothing
I did observe that the model is a "ME2" edition.
The machine was actually manufactured this month (Dec 2005) so I'm wondering if it is a new revision? Plays Divx files perfectly and quite pleased so far apart from the region code aspect.
When following the instructions I do get a white screen which shows the firmware and other numbers and the region code setting but I can;t seem to actually change from region code 2.
Anybody out there got any ideas?
Thanks in advance.0 -

The previous ones were just "ME".
Multi-region.
Both versions are made multi-region using remote.
347 - No disc, press Setup, then REC, then 8105, change region to desired (0 = multi), exit setup.
388 - Setup, then169518 ,change region as before
347 firmware, made region free, plays DivX, 388 seems not to..
Versions of both firmware available at http://www.dv-rec.de/download/firmware/player/index.shtml

!!!!e, that's where I was gona go. Boldon, Grangetown or Hartlepool it is then. :snow_laug
Edit: just realised that post is a month old!
Asda seem to be pretty cheap anyway, so I'll pick one up and test it out, if it's no good I'll take it back because they have a great returns policy.0 -
Does this recorder have progressive scan for use on lcd tv?0

I've bought one of these and it appears to be a bargain. Recorded something off the TV no problem.
However, the main reason I bought it was to put all my old VHS tapes on to DVDs in order to free up shelf space. I have it connected up to a Philips TV/VCR Combi. The aerial is going into the "Antenna In" on the Cyberhome, with another connection between "Antenna Out" on the Cyberhome into the TV/VCR Combi aerial socket.
The combi is connected to the Cyberhome via a SCART lead into the "SCART1 " socket of the Cyberhome.
I have succesfully tuned all the TV channels etc, including Sky, and as I said recorded off TV fine (using tuner as the source). What source do I need to select to record off a video playing in the combi? When a video is playing in the combi unit it automatically overrides the TV. Therefore, it is not possible to get a preview in the top right of the source menu as per normal TV channels. I have tried just hitting record and then playing the VHS tape to see if that works but it still just records from TV. I also tried SCART2 to no avail.
Can anyone help?0 -
I dont think you are going to have any joy porting over videos from your combi welshman, the video connections connecting the vcr to the tv are internal on combi units and have no vcr output (the scart connectors on your vcr/tv unit will be input source only), you will have to connect a standalone vcr to the dvd recorder for this feature0

Ah, dammit. Guess I'm gonna have to switch the DVDR with my DVD Player downstairs then.
Thanks for the repsonse.0 -
