HI There,
I did the same and complain but they pointed out the same thing. I was leaving to fork to pay BT, and have 12 months just to leave VM. VirginMedia may have cut my line at the exchange, when I phoned in May because I was getting rip-off, they knew I had to pay BT the £125 reconnection. How did they know that my line was disconnect at the Exchange, in my opinion, somebody is purposed removing that line, so we are tied to their sevice, and VM knew that. All the telephone charges are going but VM hike the price 20-30% in June. I dislike this company so much, their customer service rep are so gobby and pathetic, they all need sacking, and be replaced by Indian call centres.. I pointed to them in a letter that Sky and BT will kill, them, as they are useless, but again you get a moron phoning me, and did not even have my full complaint, when I specifically not to be called unless he/she was a line manager. Look at their prices it's ridiculous, they the Sky channel, so in theory the overheads are cheaper by £4-5 per months, but our package price stays the same. RIP VirginMedia, one month notice as from tomorrow.
We love VM, cheapest and fastest.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
I've just had the same - said the offer was only available to returning cable customers. I'm in a brand new property and annoyed because I don't see it in their T&Cs either!!
Well I'm pleased to say I got this deal yesterday, on 3 new lines in my new property. All 3 lines had to be entered as a new account, because BT have some stupid policy of only being allowed one special offer at a time!
Also note that I was told this offer is only for those returning from cable, when stated that there was no mention of the word 'cable' in the T&C's and began to read them out I was placed on hold and then told that I could have the offer but it was an 18 month contract, to which I agreed.
Line installations by BT is an unfair monopoly, I'm currently with Tiscali and for £18 a month on each of my lines I get line rental, free calls day and evening, free international calls to the top 10 countries and 8meg unlimited broadband, now by bill has just gone to £68!!!0 -

It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Not true at all. Any line rental provider can get a line installed. Blame Tiscali. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -

Hi, just sighned up to the £29.99 offer and the man was a bit unsure about whether they charge £125, then credit it back to you through your bills or what so he asked someone else and they said no they just charge £29.99.
Does anyone know if they charge the full amount/credit it back or whether they just charge £29.99 coz I don't want to be overdrawn?0 -

If Tiscali are that wonderful why didnt you ask them to provide service at new address.
If you try to move back to them or any other supplier before the 18 months are up be aware you will be asked to pay BT, as a single payment, a sum which is equal to the total of the standard line rental charges (currently, £11.75inc. VAT per month) left in the 18 month minimum period.0 -
