Thinking of signing up to Virgins 2mb broadband as I have no BT line in the flat I just moved in to. Anyone had any experience with tis service from Virgin? I am not a heavy internet user but do like to use it for some online gaming. Would this 2mb service be good enough?
Thanks
Whilst I never did any online gaming, I found their 2mb service ample for everything else. In most cases if you went for 'up to 8mb' adsl, you will probably find you'll be close to only 2mb anyway.

Sorry cannot read thru pages so this may be in here already.
I have new house never connected to BT so I am on NTL now, saw the £30 offer and went for it. I got 2 options the return to bt offer and a special offer to take ntl customers. So no problems with eligibility.
I was concerned about the 10 calls limit, what happens if you dont make them one month if you are on holiday say. First few operators had not a clue, said nothing happens and said it will be on the paperwork.
The paperwork arrived, no mention of the downside so I called again and insisted, it was finally finally confirmed that if you ever failed to make the 10 calls in the first 18 months you would get a £95 charge, no warnings just an automatic charge.
I cancelled, but even that was not easy, the cancellation dept put me on hold, it was 50 mins when I had to go to a meeting, when I came back there was no one there.
NTL and BT seem just a bad as each other.0 -

2Mbit service should be fine as with gaming you don't really download lots and it is the lag you need to worry about, so as long as the ping rates are low you should be fine.
I know quite a few people on 2Mbit VM broadband and are into gaming. They have no problems. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

I got my line reconnected for FREE!!!
Bargain0 -
how did you manage that??0

right just checked the cheap b/b article and my options seem to be:
1. reconnect bt line 29.99 then broadband with o2 for 7.50 (if i top up my payg sim card or get a phone contract with them). total £18 a month
2. reconnect bt and get talktalk - but not sure i can do this as talktalk deal includes line rental, which will be tied with bt for 12/18 months? if this works then it will only be £15.49 a month
3. virgin media, £30 connection fee, then £10 for 6 months and £17 after - b/b only deal
what do you reckon guys? am i missing anything?0 -
has anyone recently signed up for a landline and/or broadband provider?0

ok update - i just called BT and they told me its free to reconnect the line!!!!
Result! Its a 12 month contract and 11.75 a month or 10.50 if i set up paperless billing. once activated (a few days time) I can just get my broadband through whoever I like.
I would like talktalk but I dont think that will be possible due to the 12 month bt contract? does any one know for sure? other than that i guess plus net or o2 would be the best one...0
