Daily Thread 25th August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 25 August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone :hello:
Up since 5am as OH is flying off to a remote Hebridean Island for work and I wanted to see him off. It's really stormy here and much more like December than August though I think it's to improve as the day goes on.
We've been decorating all weekend so there has been little OS other than the washing and cleaning I've managed to fit in. OH drove the 90 miles to Glasgow to pick up the girls' new beds on Saturday and we built them last night only to find that one of the packets contained the wrong bits. He will be in Glasgow today but not while Ikea is open.
So I'm tidying the decorating debris today, catching up on ironing and making a simple pasta tea for myself and the girlies.
So far, the dw and wm are on, lunches are made and kitchen is swished.
Hope everyone has a happy monday.
ps... Welcome to the newbies :hello:
Welcome back Scotrae.
Glad you had a good holiday Churchie.
Haribo x

Morning Haribo & all to follow.
Back to waking at 6.20 for me, I don't know why my body clock does that. And I didn't go to sleep till midnight (10ish is more usual for me). Not that I mind, I'm an earlybird
Think the rattling around of oldest DD arriving home half an hour ago must have disturbed me..
Haribo, how annoying - can you phone them & see if they can post the bits? Interesting place to go off & work in for your OH. Looking quite pleasant here so hopefully that will spread further later in the day
MS-Diva, thank you for reposting the recipe - I hadn't got as far as looking yet...!!! Sounds lovely. Think I may give up on weightwatchers...!!!
Yet more decluttering for me. Need to take one huge sack of clothes to the recycling bin later, I can see I will be making my first ever trip to the tip this week the amount of rubbish there is. I usually get other people to do it for me
(((((((hugs))))))) to all those needing them & hope those who haven't been sleeping well had a better night.
Off to post on the DIY forum as my hot water isn't working (the boiler isn't firing up) since plumber came Saturday, and not sure why....Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Morning peeps
I`ve just been back and read the last part of yesterdays thread, i never got back online later.
Welcome back Scotrae - i remember your DH`s fabulous meatballs really well
i make them in huge batches and freeze them, i make spicy variations and allsorts of others too, they are one of our favourite meals, really tasty YUM!
Essex Girl - I hope that you have taken lots of photo`s of your puppy, can`t wait to see them
PenPin - Hope that you are feeling better today.
I was out in the park this morning with the houndies for their before-work-run and the weather seemed really warm and mild, hope that we`re in for a nice day, it was a bit too early to be sure (4am) but i have my fingers crossed, i won`t see daylight before this afternoon as i`m at w*rk but i would like to hang out the washing later.
Young doggie was freaking me out a bit as she kept stopping and staring up an embankment but i just tried to ignore her, on the way back home we saw a young guy walking up to a gennel at the top of the embankment so i wondered if that was something to do with her staring, later when i left for w*rk i saw the same guy on a different road altogether, seems like a strange time to be out for someone with no houndies in tow, made me a bit nervous.
I`ve taken some chicken and stuffing out of the freezer for later so that we can have a lovely chicken dinner tonight, DH will be home tonight so no doubt there will be piles of washing accompanying him  i plan to carry on sorting out a cupboard that i started doing yesterday, i cannot believe how much paper has been thrown in there:eek: it`s taking ages to sort through as most of it is stuff that needs saving but just in the correct place.
I`d better stop rambling and go and [STRIKE]make a cup of tea [/STRIKE] do some w*rk now, hopefully i`ll catch up later.
Have a lovely bank holiday guys
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Morning. Damp here and a little on the cold side. It eventually stopped raining for one day last Friday, and then started again all weekend. It was cold too. Anyway BHL today, but I was off anyway, so that means I will get a back rest day, so can't grumble.
Nothing planned, although we have to get ready for our trip to London tomorrow, so a little packing and cleaning.
My son returns from USA on Friday, so we will meet him at Heathrow then.
Picked the sweetcorn yesterday and froze most of that. Ate some too with the last of my cheap chicken, every nice. The garden is starting to look a bit pathetic now as I have harvested a lot of things so it bare earth and weeds. Should hav edone winter cabbage, but I get sick of the caterpillars eating them every year.
Well folks have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
very dull here at the moment, but yesterday was the same and it turned into a nice day, so fingers crossed the same happens. I could do with getting some more washing done and line dried. today the ironing pile is a priority. and upstairs cleaning. did downstairs yesterday including some decluttering.
tonights tea, home made lasagne.x x x0 -
morning all!
dull here too! I'm off to work later but hope to pop to our local carboot on the way. Nothing much going on here. DH is back at work and feeling a lot better after starting on the antibiotics. DS2 is still in Devon - spoke to him last night and he said he's had his lip pierced:eek: I've told him not to have anything else pierced while he's away! DS1 is in bed - he was doing a bit of extra work last night delivering for our local pizza parlour and didn't get in till about 2am.
Haribo - hope you get the beds sorted and that they give you some compensation for the inconvenience - when a part of a bike was missing and we had to drive 20 miles to get it they gave us some money for petrol(Halfords)
Catowen and Mrs_Mix:hello: :hello:
(((hugs)))to those who need them x
have a great day all
Take care xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all, So much for the forcast of a sunny Bh. It's grey here.
More stuff to do in the utility, I stock up on kitchen/ toilet rolls when they are on offer but they are taking up so much cupboard space so I asked DH to fix 2 poles, verticle, to the wall so I could slide them on, so he's sorting through the garage looking for some brackets, the type that I can clip the pole to.
Off to L Ashley to order the chair I can't live without. Then back to do the tiling.
I realised y/day that I spend all of my time moving things, Move clothes to WM, move them to line/TD, move them to iron, move them to bedroom.
Move post to study, sort and move to filing, move stuff to vacume, blah, blah ,blah. Nothing ever stays in the right place, so SUNNYDAY I know what you mean.
BM on and bedding in WM, Have a chick cass in SC for DD2 and SiL to be and will drop off later along with the carrier bag holder I made. Lots of roast left over for us.
Plan to make a start on the stairs/landing, will sand and prep ready to paint tomorrow.
Off to catch up on y/days posts.0 -
Morning :hello: Hiya Scotrae :hello:
PP
The WM is on and I'm working my way through daily clicks.
I made some tomato soup with homegrown toms, onions and basil, had to buy the veg stock cubes though so it wasn't quite free
There's loads in the freezer, give me a shout if you get hungry
I want to get out into the garden to chuck more earth on the potatoes, should have some ready within a week and some more in about 2 months. We planted some in our 'allotment' next door too, they're for the neighbours, I'm hoping they'll be ready soon. There's loads more toms ready too.
Mr troo bought Sweeney Todd on ex-rental DVD, so I'll watch that this afternoon while I'm eating my dinner
I am a coffee bean0 -

Hope everyone has a good Bank Hol Mon and ((((hugs)))) to those who have to work (unless it's choice
)
Sunny here in Suffolk. I was cold in bed last night - first time for a g e s and I was pl;eased
. My DH says I've been too hot to cuddle in bed for about a month
- think it's the start of the hot flushes for me, oh happy day.
Cleaned the inside of the livingroom window where sneaky young dog climbs on settee and sticks wet dog nose onto window when we're not looking but blimey she's scratched the glass in a couple of places! gggrrr.
Tea tonight is reheated chicken from yesterday. Braised a big chicken so that should do a few days. My stomach hasn't really settled since the onset of my tum bug - thought it was fine on Sat and had baked potato with beans and cheese......hhmm an interesting combo for a recovering tum so it took a step backwards. The chicken is nice and light though.
Going to make a menu plan today and also a list of clothes for work. Start work again tomorrow, with students starting next week so will be brain dead by evening for the next few weeks. This *should* be my last year at college here as, fingers crossed, we're moving to Edinburgh next summer.
Anyway, off to make some toast and have a browse on here.
Welcome back holidays makers and those MIA. Welcome to newbies - you won't be newbies long
