I have just been RIPPED off by Easyjet

Easyjet have treated this situation as if the ticket were being passed from one person to another. I am sure that the OP contacted them about the problem and asked for a "name change" and was treated accordingly. The fee to correct a spelling mistake (which is what this is, in effect) should be a good deal lower.0

From elsewhere in this forum "I've yet to open a thread containing the words 'rip off' which is appropriately titled."

Its like a book this.
User comes on and tells how he feels he has been ripped off....
EXACT same users as in all the other threads re rip off, come and say how its his own fault. Some of you really must think you are it. Have you never made a mistake? You are pathetic.
Get your head out of your backsides and realise that £100 for the reason stated is a rip off. You really are nasty bitter people.0 -

The rest of make a pigs ear of things, put it down to experience, make sure that we don't do it again and move on.
We don't try and worm out of it by trying to blame others, or bleat about the costs that we have inflicted upon ourselves.
Clear enough for you ?
Good.
Now go back to bed and get some extra sleep
Obnoxious and patronising too.
If you could see further than your colon you'd probably be a little more objective about things and realise that Easy Jet charging £100 just to put a name right is a rip off. In fact its an out right con.
But then i would expect a small minded bitter individual like you to grasp that.
edit: Nor did the OP blame anyone else, in fact he accepted it was his fault and simply complaining about a charge he felt and many of us agree - was a rip off. Now, where have i heard a similar story - I bet you are one of the people that used to tell some one who went overdrawn that a £30 was justified and they shouldn't have gone overdrawn. How daft you must feel now.0 -
Everyone makes mistakes that`s why they put rubbers on the end of pencils.
BUT Easyjets have their T&C`s which everyone agrees to because if they don`t
you cannot buy your flight.
The reason Joe Bloggs sitting next to you on a plane, and saying he only paid £20 return to go to Spain is because the OP made an a*se of things and ended up paying through the nose to subsidise Joe Bloggs.0 -
And everyone read (or could have) the terms and conditions before opening a bank account.
How many of you have since claimed back charges.

I think the thread should have been titled 'Easyjet rip off charges', this is what is being complained about. In terms of it just being a 'name correction' Easyjet don't know if you are just correcting a name of the existing passenger or changing to a different passenger. This would be especially true using a common surname such as Brown, Smith or SinghIT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
4 Credit Card and 1 Loan PPI claims settled for £26k, 1 rejected (Opus).0 -

I so wish that was aimed at me as I lost most of mine in January through illness, and your point wouldn't be made, just as the point in the very first post hasn't been made either.
There is a common problem here on MSE.
It is "I love myself" individuals not reading terms and conditions, being undone by them, then making a totally false claim about a company by starting a thread.
Instead of wasting your time on here, vent at Easyjet, and next time, read the terms and conditions for goodness sake.
A final warning....don't come on here hoping people will roll over and say what you want to hear - from reading the above posts it is clear you wanted people to solely agree with you.
You were wrong, it hit you in the pocket. In this case, for me, it's well done Easyjet.0 -
It happened to me. I arrived at Leeds/Bradford in good time before the flight, went to Jet2.com sales desk, explained what had happened. They looked at my passport, said no problem and changed the booking name.
I asked if there was a charge, and was told no. The charge is only made if it is obvious a different person making the flight to that booked.
I think it helps to rectify problems face to face, and I know this is not always possible.
Well done Jet2.com0 -

I was just going to make that exact point until I spotted your post. Yes, the airlines should be able to charge for alterations made by the customer but those charges should accurately reflect the cost of making those changes. They shouldn't be used to screw an extortionate amount of money from a customer who is already commited to purchase. I hope its not long before someone takes this issue through the courts although I would imagine that the airline would settle with the individual before then rather than have the courts set a precedent.0
